General IDOING UIS7862 with WRX[Updated with initial review]

So I just went out to my Vette and stuck my ear right to the main speaker and there is the SLIGHTEST of backgrond hiss that goes away when I turn the volume to 0. So same idea as the IDoing, but FAR less noise. I am going to order a power line noise filter and see if that eliminates it, but I can't even hear this when sitting in the car with top up and doors and windows closed.

If you can wait a couple days I'd say have a powerline filter shipped and see what that does. For 10 dollars and 10 minutes to wire it might be worth it if you haven't snapped that sucker in place. I'm a big guy and that took some effort.

And where exactly do I wire this up at? That's one thing I haven't been able to figure out. Can you help me with that? Is it somewhere behind the radio, somewhere at the speakers, somewhere at the HK amp?

The unit I have boots up in under 20 seconds--it'll probably be longer after I've customized it more, but I really don't mind the wait. I'd rather know my battery is where I left it. It might not be an issue at all, but I'm thinking about wiring in a physical switch to cut power to the unit if needed.

I was having issues with my battery dying overnight bc the iDoing was staying on in sleep mode. I did buy a new battery in case it was that but I also turned off the setting that causes it to only go to sleep when ACC is off, so now it fully powers down. The boot up time is no issue and it's pretty quick. Much better this way. I think it's in the Factory menu with code 3368 but if you need help finding it let me know.

Yes that's the one I ordered. For my vette it's easy to put it in after the fact. I'm not doing anything with the WRX until I know it's worth it, just because taking it apart again scares me ;-)

odd, I've had no issues and mine has sat for over a week and it had already powered itself off.

Disabling sleep in the factory setting did the trick. Shuts off now, no problem.

Anyone got suggestions for snapping in the top clips?

So here's what I did...
1) put in the bottom clips,
2) Holding the bottom clips in bend the vent section to snap in the top, leaving center clips unclips
3) Now push real hard on the top corners of the screen and housing, until it clips, then repeat on the other size
4) Hope you never have to take it out!

I'm 6'1 220 and it wasn't easy.

I think you can use the same method, have had no need to root so far. Joying nd IDoing are both manufactured by FYT and run the same images. I would post your firmware screen shots on the Joying forum and see what the gurus think.

One reason to root would be to give write permissions (for system file and external storage devices) to file explorer apps other than the crap stock one they included which has no options. I can only edit flash drive files with that one app and it's awful, can't even fast scroll in a folder of thousands of songs.

Hey, so I got the noise filter. I'm confused on which wire on the iDoing harness to put this in-line on though. Check my pics. Do you know if the number 15 pin/wire aka the black wire on the harness really the 12v+/batt? To me the black color is throwing me off although I know you can't always trust the colors. I tried to match that wire to the connecting pin on the car harness that it plugs into but the black nor the yellow or red from the iDoing harness seem to go directly to the car's 12v+, so I'm confused.

I think you're upside down, your yellow should be Batt and Black is Grnd. If you hold it to the far right image I think you'll see yellow is 15 black is 16

Check out the other pic I posted with the diagram on the iDoing though. The clip side of the plug is on the right of their sticker image and my pic shows the wires on the left side equivalent of the sticker image. So I'm not sure what to do.

See how #14 is Acc and that should be Red. I can't see you speaker wire black stripes but I bet they match up.

#13 is blue and that should be you ant. wire.
and you have 2 channels to the right of the black and only one channel 2 the left of the Ant switch.

I think that sticker is a picture of the connector on the unit, not you cable so it's mirrored.

Yeah that's what I did. If you hold the plug towards the sticker pic as if plugging into it, the flat side of the cable is the left side of the sticker pic, so black lines up with #15, yellow is #16, etc...

I may be wrong but I think you are seeing it backwards. The pic I sent of my harness is the flat/non-clip side, which I believe equates to the left side of that sticker (11-20).
