I had this error recently occur where I've tried to replace my stock recovery with an incorrect TWRP version 
and it seemed like it accepted, but didn't and placed me into a Fastboot Loop/Soft Brick.
To resolve this:
Download the zip file below.
Follow the instructions to Flash your recovery (both slots) and you may be able to recover your device from this error as well.
