Question If I put a custom ROM onto the A52s will I have a worse (or better?) camera or camera software compared to stock Samsung firmware?

In my opinion, the best 3rd party camera app is Open Camera. So if you want to check how the camera would perform on a custom ROM, install that app on the stock ROM and make sure you select Camera API 2 in the settings.
That being said, there is no custom ROM for any of the A52 devices yet.

Also there are a lot of reports that your camera won't work at all (firmware issue) if you unlock the bootloader, which you would definitely have to do to install a Custom ROM.
