Setting to Coasta Rica worked for me. I'm in the US.
Hey Baron,
I just tried switching over to Costa Rica on my 2nd attempt to get over 9.0 but..no such luck. First one was just plain USA but couldn't get through the ID part. Then did a FDR, and got to the Costa Rica (English) setup stage to click my way through. No SIM (have AT&T but opted not to put it in) and used WiFi. Check for update page and nothing. Have LYA-L29 build# C605
How did you get it to work for you? Thanks!

Try the dload method. Go straight to the latest version

If you've followed the steps I assure your missing some. Buy a cheap $9 Singapore simcard off of amazon and watch the updates just fly on in.

Search for my recent post in this thread.
Followed the steps. Yea, I could have missed some  but at the point of picking up a Singapore simcard so pulled the trigger and will get it next week.
You have a Canada ver L-09. Was your setup sequence Country: Canada ? ... Singapore? then insert the SIM? Then WiFi and wait for updates? Would like to know the steps.
Thanks for your understanding and help!

Thanks djpeesh. Don't know if it will work on LYA-L29 but if the SIM thing doesn't, then I'll give it a go.
Will hunt for the link to download the firmware version for LYA-L29

I'm still waiting to get off of the 9.0 train.
Have you had any luck with the steps in this forum for updating?
Also in US with LYA-L29 C605

My version L0C. All I did was turn off the phone, insert the sim, turned the phone on, and then went to software update and all the updates came in.
And yes, WiFi.

I am in the US, with LYA-L29, and still waiting to receive emui 9.1 update
Same position here using AT&T. Wondered if you've seen that 9.1 yet and if you have the same build # on yours as I do (C605E10R1P16). Region is Latin America.

So I've tried reset/reboot switching countries (Panama, Costa Rica, even China) without any luck.
Also eRecovery, updates with and without SIM on WiFi and nothing but "Your System is up to date" 9.0.0.215 with March 2019 patch.
Have you tried using Singapore SIM suggestion by mikeyfnbrennan in this thread?

My phone is the Canadian version (bought it off Ebay) and been stuck on the 2.0.0.269 version for the longest even when I was told I'd get 9.1 at the end of September.
Saw people mentioning getting a sim from Singapore so purchased one off of amazon for $9 and got the 9.1.0.300 on my LYA_L0C.

EDIT: 1 minute after im now getting updates for the 9.1.0.310 version.
EDIT 2: Finished updates on 9.1.0.335
Thanks again Mikey... the same sim you got came in the mail yesterday.
Turned off phone, removed old sim, inserted other, turned on WiFi and ..BANG.. download after download...
Stopped at 9.1.0.338 including Sept patch. Happy camper! :good:
Cheers..

I think I found the issue of why oversea Mate 20 pro is not updating. I own LYA-L29 Mate 20 Pro, I haven't received any update since 5/19. I tried to contact China and USA Huawei support, they both told me they can't provide support because my phone does not belong to their region. Long story short, I contacted Hong Kong Huawei, and they told me to do 2 Things:
1. Make sure you have Hong Kong or China Sim Card.
2. Make sure you connect to wifi.

After trying all the possible ways to update my phone with USA sim card inserted and they all fail( Even Huawei Firmware Finder). I decided to give a try on my wife's sim card from China Carrier. After I insert the sim and switch on the mobile network(My wife sim card did not activate for USA use), then I click "check for update". while it was "checking" I switch on Wifi, and the miracle happened. My phone is successfully updated from EMUI 9.0.0.243 to EMUI 10. I can confirm Firmware is controlled by the sim region.

1. Make sure you have an ASIA carrier sim. ( China and Hong Kong Sim work!)
2. After replacing the sim switch to mobile network only( it work without actual mobile connection). Then go to "SYSTEM" and click "check for update". while it is "checking" switch WIFI on at the sme time and the update will appear.
3. Repeat step 2 after each successful update, for the newer one.

I hope this helps!!
