First some back-story:

Me and two other friends (we all live in Mexico) bought one dell streak 7 each, we bought them really cheap from Amazon Warehouse Deals and they're locked with t-mobile.

We want to unlock our streaks 7 and we already tried services like Unlockstreak and sending and email to [email protected] and the only option left is calling dell for the unlock codes but dell tells us that we should call t-mobile for the unlock codes and t-mobile tells us that we should call dell.

So instead of calling dell ourselves (international calls are expensive), we're looking for someone (feisty :p) that can get the codes for us, since i have no patience at all when i call them and whenever some indian guy answers i'm always like " excuse me, can you repeat that?", anyway... if someone's interested, how much will you do it for?

I don't sympathized with you... talk about expensive... I had to call from Costa Richardson and it took an hour to get the code from Dell... plus they are gonna need purchase info and such to make sure its not tlocked to a contract so only the owner can call anyway

I know that they're going to need the purchase info, and i will provide all the info needed to the person that is brave enough :D to deal with dell support, but the problem is that the dell streaks 7 are used (but like new), so i'm not even the the first owner and "Amazon Warehouse Deals" doesn't have the unlock codes nor the previous owner info...and that's the conondrum.

If you don't have the original owner's info you can just about forget getting an unlock code because it's the first thing DELL is gonna ask for because that info is linked to the service tag. Amazon shouldn't have sold them to you without that info on hand and you shouldn't have received them withouth that info either.

There is only ONE workaround that I know of to rather fool the system... which is sending the tablet off to DELL for "repair", they will take your information as the owner, when you get it back it will be locked, BUT you will then officially be registered as the owner of the device linked to that service tag number, they will then give you a code...

Beyond that I'm sorry fella, without the original owner info, you ain't gettin' an unlock code... at least it has happened to me with 3 tablets I was repairing for clients. They bought them used, had no proof they were off contract because they didn't get the info from original owners, to this day they are still locked, they can only use them as wifi tablets

Really?, well that sucks; the last time i tried i only got as far as the dell people trying to change the owner information if i send them the amazon receipt, but then there was some problems with their email and i had to send it to other department and wait until monday because that department didn't open on weekends, and when i contacted them on monday, some other guy answered me and blew me off.

I actually already unlocked my streak 7, just didn't want to update and bump an old thread, here's how to do it:
1.- do a ownership transfer, by filling this form and since i didn't had the original owner info i had to put "No Information" on the required fields about the last owner info.
2.- Call Dell from your country (in my case, Dell Mexico) and ask them for the unlock code, if they don't have it then ask them to put a note (on the service tag or the system or whatever they use) telling Dell USA to give you the unlock code because they don't have it.
3.- Call Dell Mobility and explain that you already called Dell from your country and they don't have the unlock code and tell them that they put a note in there telling them to give you the unlock code, also tell them that you already called T-mobile and that you already have authorization from T-mobile for Dell to give you the unlock code.

i think the unlock dept. is open until 05:00 pm (central time), also, i did all the calling from Skype, the calls to 1-800 numbers are free.
