I currently have a Captivate that has the following error:
Baseband Unknown
IMEI: is blank or null
CSC: Present
Steps that I have already taken:
1) I suspected that nv_data.bin had crapped out and restored a previous backup and it still did not work. (note I copied it back via correct permissions "chown 1001.1001/ radio.radio)
2) have reflash the baseband as well still did not work.
3) downgraded to stock firmware on a gingerbread release.
4) deleted nv_data and hidden .nv_data backup --> I was hoping it would generate a generic IMEI but unfortunately it did not work either
Steps to reproduce this problem:
Unknown just spontaneously happened perhaps ext4 partition somehow got corrupted for efs although I didn't see any files missing or inaccessible. Although reverting to rfs filesystem and using backups didn't seem to work either.
Question:
Has anyone ever had an error like this? and have a possible fix? Whether it be software or hardware such as z3x-box.
I'm currently perplexed of what the problem is.
Is there anyway to debug to determine what is at fault for the radio not working?
