How to flash rom in already rooted device

Hi, I was looking at your instructions and I'm not sure if the bottom note applies. The seller sent me the imito already rooted and with Bob's rom 1.5 installed. I need to flash 1.7 to get the bluetooth working, I believe. Can I just download the rom and change the name as you indicated at the end, or do I need to install Rockusbdriver and flash tool? I would really appreciate it if you could direct me to some instructions for what I need to do.

Thanks.

Hello fellow stick users. I have a small question I didn't see in the comments. I run out of room very quickly. How can I get the apps to install to the SD partition instead of the regular memory? I tried going to applications manager and moving to SD card but from what i remember being on the gs3, that feature is no longer supported.. I'm confused why it splits the memory up but installs everything to the smaller partition. I don't want to buy an SD card for this thing because all I use it for is streaming and light gaming when I'm bored so help a guy out please. I'm on 4.1.1 stock unrooted mx1

you can try Linktosd program. its working great on my xperia ray android phone. but you need to root your stick first.

I don't think so. Following the instructions on the website should get you there. You can root after installing it to gain those privileges again. I will try flashing the 4.2 rom tonight.

How did your flashing went?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

Went well. I was using a filess rom and did no unrooting or anything prior to flashing the 4.2 The only issue I had was windows 8. I had to use my win 7 pc to flash. Otherwise the instructions were good to follow. The rom itself seems to be working well. If I come across any issues I'll post them. If you need help or have any questions I'll answer what I can.

Did you root again after flashing? If so do you have a resource to follow?

I cannot get install 4.2 or neither finless.
strange was that in reset button hole I didnt find any hard what to push. so I did open whole stick. and reset button is another side board than hole.
well I did try to push it and plug usb otg same time but nothing happened.

I did manage to root MX1 by this instruction
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/2012/12/18/how-to-root-imito-mx1-imito-mx2/#.UYzBykkZW1E

edit: Success!
I disabled usb debugging and enabled USB \ connect PC now in batch tool number 1 turns to pink.
pressed switch button in batch tool, screen in mX1 went to blac,k and it didnt find any driver. searched driver from RKbatchtool directory and after install it turned to green.
then just find update.img and push restore.
And your done.

Awesome. I was going to suggest that the swith button in the tool puts it into the same mode as holding the reset button. This is the same way I have done it before.

Well, like a lot of questions in this thread, I dont know which one to buy.
Everybody recomends MK809 II or iMito. But I cant decide which one.

I really dont care about xbmc but Im going to be happy if it works. Im thinking of using a notebook HDD with a usb enclosure so I have no problem with wifi steaming at home.

Save me!

I guess iMito MX1 is "half a point" ahead. Ive read there is stock Android 4.2 and a bigger comunity maybe? Its the first media player im buying so I have no idea.
Is it true that 5.1 audio is not working? What if Im using a yamaha AV receiver? I watch .m2ts and .mkv movies.

I flashed Finless 2.0 as well as stock 4.2.2 on my MX1 and neither of them work with the Netflix app. The video is garbled (reminiscent of scribblies). Flashed back to stock 4.1.1 and it works fine. Guess I'll try Finless 1.5 since it's based on 4.1.1 to at least get root and some additional optimizations.

On a side note - What launchers/cool setups are you guys using? Would love to get some more ideas.

    How to install firmware?
    (source)

The most important: After you flash this firmware, and next time, when we release new firmware, you don't need to flash in this hard way, you can just copy the firmware *.img file, and rename it to "update.img" and paste it to your Micro SD Card, insert the micro SD card to iMito MX1 and then connect MX1 with TV, the system will inform you "there is a new firmware update detected, and if you want to update", just click "yes", and the flash will go by itself.

So enjoy your new firmware, any questions, please feel free to report to us. :good:;)

I´m asking the same question. This seems to be the best one so far?

doesn't matter which you buy, the moment it arrives there are more and more better on the market.

At the moment there are quadcore processor ones too, and next week on the CES you'll see more of these...

    However about imito mx1/2

the wifi and BT driver are not open source, so until Mediatek doesn't release source for these drivers, you'll not have many custom roms.

    BUT

    1. no need for it, stock rom is fast and snappy
    2. if you not willing to use wifi or BT (internet can come through USB-LAN adapter from router), you can use any custom rom made for MK808 devices.

Here is a Google+ community where we discuss some tricks and tips, apps and games, feel free to join!
