Newbie Questions

I have just received an iMito MX2 and install the rooted kasty 20130504 rom which is working flawlessly (Thanks for compiling all the info here) but I have two small problems:

1.- When I push the shutoff button on the control bar bar the system just hung with a closing screen and never end (with the stock rom it was the same). Is that normal?

2.- When I connect the device to pc (using the OTG port) windows explorer find immediately two new extractable disk but both appeared as not formatted if I try to open it.

Also I'm unable to find suspend options in settings so device and tv screen are always on. Will appreciate any orientation about that.

Thanks

Just to clarify something I probably have missed, but can an external HDD or flash drive (preferably the first) be connected to this device via USB? Will it be able to read its contents and play any videos/movies that may be on it?

Yes...through the OTG port. Both external HDD and flash drives work.

My parents have been using the device lately and it appears that it very often loses the connection to the wireless network I set up for them to my PC. Very often it will also stop playing a movie they are watching and equally often it will not even recognise the USB they attach to the OTG. I'm thinking of flashing the rom posted here in the OP, but I want to ask if the roms there are compatible with the MX2. All I want from the device is to have flawless operation. Will it work?

EDIT: Also, the link for the rockusb driver is broken. same goes for the flash tool. Can anyone provide a new one plz?

EDIT 2: Has anyone noticed bootloops in its stock rom when plugging it on the wall outlet? When it powers from the device it's connected to (TV) it boots properly. When I plug it on the wall it goes on a bootloop. What on earth is wrong with this device? I also noticed that the mini USB port is now dead and anything connecting to it simply doenst; work. This is getting on my nerves.

Might be the adapter hasn't got enough power? Once happened to me and after I changed it for another one it was ok - the loop was gone ...

video playback - mkv 1080 lags

Hi! I see that video playback of 1080 mkv files is laggy (directly from SD card, so not a wifi issue) - would a flashed device perform any better? If so, should I install 1080p ROM - or that's got nothing to do with the video playback at all... I also noticed XBMC sometimes doesn't play video (messy picture) whereas the same file through BS player is played normally (but unfortunately stil laggy). Strange, isn't it?

honestly, I went through about 3 android sticks before I finally gave up on them. Even tried chrome cast just for the hell of it and was not impressed. As much as i wanted to have the android OS on my TV's it just wasn't worth the hassle for something that felt so unstable.

Needless to say i went to the Roku box which makes me sad that I couldn;t have the adnroid OS but being able to watch stuff at 1080 with no problems and have an app installed that lets me stream downloaded videos from my PC makes my life easier.

I wanna try the Ouya but I can't justify it right now with the Roku box I just bought...

But this thread was very helpful and awesome so thanks for the info and guides!

    How to install firmware?
    (source)

The most important: After you flash this firmware, and next time, when we release new firmware, you don't need to flash in this hard way, you can just copy the firmware *.img file, and rename it to "update.img" and paste it to your Micro SD Card, insert the micro SD card to iMito MX1 and then connect MX1 with TV, the system will inform you "there is a new firmware update detected, and if you want to update", just click "yes", and the flash will go by itself.

So enjoy your new firmware, any questions, please feel free to report to us. :good:;)

I´m asking the same question. This seems to be the best one so far?

doesn't matter which you buy, the moment it arrives there are more and more better on the market.

At the moment there are quadcore processor ones too, and next week on the CES you'll see more of these...

    However about imito mx1/2

the wifi and BT driver are not open source, so until Mediatek doesn't release source for these drivers, you'll not have many custom roms.

    BUT

    1. no need for it, stock rom is fast and snappy
    2. if you not willing to use wifi or BT (internet can come through USB-LAN adapter from router), you can use any custom rom made for MK808 devices.

Here is a Google+ community where we discuss some tricks and tips, apps and games, feel free to join!
