Summary:

The new capabilities include:

- Office document storage in the cloud. Users will be able to share and store documents through Office 365 and Windows Live Skydrive.
- Pinnable e-mail folders so you can access them from the Start screen.
- Conversation view in e-mails.
- The ability to search your e-mail server for messages no longer stored on your phone.
- Access to a Lync Mobile app (available through the Windows Phone Marketplace), which includes instant-messaging capabilities and shows who's online and available to chat.

I had to do some searching to see what Lync was and I found some information here

We also need to remember these are "leaks" and I see the 24th opening up the doors for a significantly larger amount of improvements. I honestly cannot wait. Microsoft promised, and are delivering. I cannot remember an OS ever improving so drastically in less than a year.

Mango will be by far the biggest OS update for a phone ever. I've been waiting for a lot of these improvements, but never imagined this many would be implemented in the first significant update. I'm very pleased by what I've heard so far, and can't wait to see what they haven't told us yet for their big announcement.

With the superior UI windows phone has, once this update comes out its going to be tough out there for the other platforms if MS can do a good job of showcasing it.

hmm, only 7 days till this can be a review thread instead of speculation. :)
This is exactly what we're talking about. It's been less than a year and we can already talk about updates that people never imagined. It isn't so much speculation though, I'm pretty sure most of the "rumors" have been confirmed. It's just a matter of seeing what else Microsoft is going to announce, how they're going to announce it, and how deep the integration is going to go. If MIX is any sign, WinPhone's features are all going to be deeply integrated, and we saw that with the Bing searches to IMDB usage.

But this is not a rumour. Windowsteamblog is a MS site and Paul is an employee.

I also am excited about next week. Lync sounds interesting.

"Lync integrates instant messaging, presence, audio, video, web conferencing and voice into one interface that works with Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Exchange.

Lync Online will be available as part of Office 365, with voice capabilities becoming available in 2011."

Exciting times :D

Yeah, that's why I put "rumor" in quotes, and I was referring to more than this, as I seriously think the People Hub upgrades and such lead to amazing productivity. What I'm most happy to see is that we're getting increased features with this incredibly efficient UI and experience... I've honestly not had a single "bad" experience with this phone... It hasn't even lagged on me, and that's some amazing stuff considering I don't ever do a soft reset. I'm glad the days of constant resets and memory leaks are gone ;)

I honestly can say I like the things I am reading. I like them alot. And it is quite a laundry list of stuff.

Now what they really need to do is have this all out the door by october/november alongside a fabulous wave of new phones. Get it done MS.

any news on mango?? did it come out??
it was mentioned in the press conference that mango will be out this fall same time with the new devices that carry windows phone. im not sure if i understood it correctly, developers will get an early look at mango.

there were only a few things that MS put emphasis on but as per the videos that are coming out, aside from what has been divulged in the press conference, there are a lot of things in store for the consumers.

pocketnow also has a couple videos showing things that were not mentioned in the press conference.

developer tools will be up for download within 24hours.

heres also a short demo of the built in turn by turn feature included in mango

joe belfiore also has some videos on youtube in which constitutes things that were highlighted in the conference.

cheerio

I know global phone search is coming, and I would assume that includes more than the name of the contact. I hope you can, and thats a good question.

THAT'S what I'm talking about !!

People insists comparing Windows Phone 7 with iOS and Android, but forget that the iOS and the Android are on the market for more than 3 years !!!

iOS was CRAP when it was released (and still look like crap, in my opinion).
Android was f*cking ugly and had no APPS (still ugly as hell, in my opinion again).

Now, iOS fanboys say: "Oh, we have over 300.000 apps !!"
YES, but 299.000 are USELESS !!!

I think that Windows Phone 7 is WAY more advanced in visuals and features than both (iOS and Android) on their release and will become BETTER with Mango update with much less time than iOS and Android updates.

PS: I'm not a Apple hater, I had an iPhone 3G (the dark age).
And yes, I AM f*ckin mad! :D

PLEASE keep these sort of OS comparisons in the thread that exists explicitly for that purpose...
WP7 vs. iPhone vs. Android vs. WM6.5 vs. webOS vs. Maemo - THE comparison!

I see that you've posted there, so I know that you know it exists...
