actually, i was thinking about that already when i saw the thread. especially since the standard MIUI rom download section has been down for AGES now with no improvement in sight...

however, this would still be just beta stage at this point, so would it make more sense to wait for official stable release oe not?

what do others think? feedback appreciated :)

any official download links?

edit: nvm, found it - http://en.miui.com/download-328.html

so looks like no need to update the OP, link is still the same. however, so far only global beta available, no china or stable roms yet. looks like theyre slowly but surely bringing the download page back online.

well, tbh, i wouldnt mess around with custom roms on a critical mission phone for business... just choose a phone that meets your needs both in hardware and software and leave it at stock to be 100% sure of bugless stable experience.

im amazed at how many users come arguing with this line about their phone being "super important for work" and then they mess around by unlocking bootloader, installing custom roms, rooting, etc. o_O in the end, blaming the dev for a non-perfect experience.

news flash: this is xda. everything you do and try here is on your own responsibility. so expect bugs, expect difficulties, expect a lot of trial and error.

if you absolutely need mission-critical stability and your phone is THAT important, just leave it at stock. simple as that :)

cheers!

ps: and no, im NOT telling you what to do. im just telling you what the consequences of your actions are. big difference ;)

I am on Android from 10 years. I was using both customs and stock roms, pure and skinned builds. After years of improvement right now Android is very mature and polished system, currently also features reach at least for my needs. In my usage scenerio factory stock image meets my needs and on my main device is generally much much better than custom. Obviously I could agree with you. From approximately 6 years I always use stock on main business device and really I never suspected that I will use custom as a daily drive any more but I didn't predict how bad are Chinese stock Android roms. I have bought mi max 2 to replace my missed z ultra swapped on galaxy note 5 (to small!) as you know there is almost no choice if you need ultra large phone. I couldn't predict how bad is miui. In meantime wife bought honor 9 and she has physically destroyed this phone compleatly just because of crappy software. Now I can confirm - emui is even worse. I am not able to imagine that any custom can be worse than miui/emui. Phone without reliable notification, ability to keep apps in background and not stable is useless not only in business, but useless at all. As I realized how bad is Chinese software I cannot agree with you at all. Is better to use custom than Chinese software. I don't know why Chinese software is as bad and maniacally save battery instead user mental health, maybe they have expensive electricity or they don't need basic features of smartphones but in western world is absolutely not acceptable. For me miui isn't any alternative for customs roms while from my point of view and my needs miui is worst than symbian - yes I am 100% serious. Please understand my point of view and needs. If any proper vendor (not Chinese) will release 16:9 6.4+ inch or 18:9 6.8-7 inch phone I will happy to very strong kick mi max 2 in Chinese screen, right now I am happy to use this phone with custom Nougat rom. Another thing is a security concern while using Chinese software. It always prevent me from mobile banking on miui but I could deal with it, the worst was stability and notification.

ok guys, im back! ;)

update to the OP:

- AceKernel now available for both Nougat and Oreo
- brother @Jay_B is SO super busy with different projects (kudos!) that he decided to let Dot OS development be continued by our newcomer MM2 dev @Kapil Tapsi, which is why there is a second Dot OS Oreo thread now :) Version was bumped to v2.4 from v2.3
- Havoc OS 8.1.0 released

edit: almost forgot! there is also another LOS 14.1 build by user @bneo99 based on @ashwin007 ´s LOS sources. go and check it out if ure interested, also included in the OP :)

In other HUGE news: Pixel Experience 8.1.0 by our dearest dev @V_v3k now has PRELIMINARY TREBLE SUPPORT! thats right folks, our rockstar devs are working hard in the background to port full Treble functionality to our beloved MM2 phones :) Right now theyre trying to get rid of any remaining bugs, so stay tuned to more Treble compatible custom ROMs sometime in the near future :D

Thats it for now, enjoy! :)

Thanks for your great work of compiling the list of roms :)

a small suggestion from my end.

1 . it is better to create separate section for treble supported roms bcoz treble roms are the future.expect a heavy rain of treble roms shortly for mm2 ;)
