Yes , you are correct. I made sure that the one that I bought was factory sealed from the seller. I also asked seller for a picture of the boxREMEMBER, once it connects, it's not the serial # that matters.... It has to be factory sealed. AND do not set it up/connect it unless you already rooted it and installed a ROM that blocks OTA updates.

I bought 4 rootable devices, putting Eureka v1.1 (blocks OTA updates, it has its own update and also recovery from what I read.)

Custom whitelist (ie, use other apps-in-development like Vbukit) and change DNS...I fail to see the purpose of a rooted chromecast anymore. Can anyone explain what you can do with a rooted chromecast that you can't do with a normal one. I could see the point of wanting local playback before but we've had it for a while now.
