[SIZE=+3]Template Usage[/SIZE]
The indented block below contains the official template's BBCode.
1) Copy the contents of the entire block and paste into the "Edit Post" window. This will form the basis of the FAQ post.
2) The only things to be changed in the template:
- The device name. Use the official forum name designated for the device.
- The number of questions and answers. Duplicate them as necessary and renumber appropriately.
- The question and answers.
3) Do not incorporate extras, change text styles, or add any flourishes to the document. The purpose of using a template is to achieve consistency.
4) Do not add additional lists, guides, indices, etc. as subsequent posts in the thread. The FAQ should be a standalone document. Separate the others out into their own threads and create a Q&A item in the FAQ with a link to them.
5) Use the official title for the FAQ when posting the document: "Frequently Asked Questions" (optionally add a device name to the title. e.g. "Frequently Asked Questions - Amazon Kindle Fire")
6) Add tags to the document for it to come up in search results. Some suggestions:
- "Frequently Asked Questions", "FAQ"
- Manufacturer name, model name, model number (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S II I9100)
- Any other short phrases representative of the FAQ content
7) Contact a forum moderator or report the post and ask to make the FAQ a sticky in the device's "Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting" forum.
8) Post in this thread with a link to the new FAQ to have it included in post #3.
9) Consider disabling your signature for the FAQ OP as it makes for a cleaner appearance.
