!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT USE ATTACHED KERNEL. WILL NOT WORK AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO REMOVE ATTACHMENT FROM POST.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@andu86 Could you please make a tar file for the latest stock kitkat april 23 COD3, but released yesterday? I've attached a boot.img I've extracted from the tar.md5. I've tried doing this myself a few times, but odin keeps complaining about the tar.

EDIT!: NOT SURE I HAVE EXTRACTED THE BOOT.IMG CORRECTLY. I THINK. I just renamed ROM tar.md5 to tar and extracted with winRAR... which method do you use to extract the kernel boot.img? I think I found a good method for repacking to tar.md5 and odin accepts the signing, but fails on flash...

there you go! View attachment 3378429 , from this archive extract the boot.tar.md5 and flash it with odin

you just have to open the firmware file with winrar and extract boot.img from there.

btw from wich firmware did you extracted the kernel ?
Many thanks! I used the latest released UK unlocked version from Sam mobile released yesterday. See attachment. Ignore kennel. Its the old kernel installed on my system after towel root exploit and was latest available until now.

Unfortunately the tar.md5 failed in Odin. I think I must have extracted the boot.img wrong... How should I take the kernel from ROM tar file?

EDIT FIXED!: I must have pulled the boot.img wrong or it corrupted, because I tried pulling the boot.img again and coverted it to tar and now its working! Here is my odin flashable kernel for COD3 23 April 2015 KitKat i9195 LTE, Pulled from BTU ROM. unzip before flashing.

Hello. I have one question about this thing. I want to know, if updating the kernel via Odin will not affect KNOX? I thought that it will trigger the KNOX to 0x1.

Thanks for the answer.

For me flashing STOCK kernels never tripped Knox. Did this when using towelroot.

So that means, when i flash my S4mini with KERNEL from this thread via ODIN and then install towelroot, KNOX should stay untriggered (at 0x0)?
Yes it should stay 0x0. But you will need to install one of the older kernels first to use towel root, it was patched in later releases. But once you've rooted you can go ahead and flash the latest kernel again.

Hi guys, i'm new into this, so i'm a bit worry. I have to ask, is there any chance of bricking the phone?

Thank you much for an answer!

As long as your using the correct model of phone i.e. NOT I9195"L" then there is no risk. Have flashed these myself many times without any issue or without tripping knox. Please make sure your model of s4 mini is correct. Though flashing a stock rom should fix things if some how they go wrong. What model of phone and country are you using?

I have s4 mini (I9195) and country Czech Republic. I think it should work.

Edit 18:00 - All done, everything worked well, thanks a lot!

In general, is it best to keep updating to the latest kernel? I have no idea what they are, but if they are official items it must have some benefit I take it?

Hello, i have I9195XXUCNK4 and tried installing I9195XXUCNF7 through odin for towelroot. Phone restarted after kernel install but then i see I9195XXUCNK4 is still there and CNF7 not installed. Why it can't install CNF7 ?
