flash other Retail Firmware?

Hi, my XT1540 is Retail US (1GB), can I flash this firmware without problems?:

[6.0]
Retail Latin America (1GB) - XT1540_OSPREY_RETLA_NA_6.0_MPI24.65-25_cid12

Thanks!

File differences on XT1550 Firmware

Hey there,

I'm Currently on 5.1.1 and planning to clean upgrade to 6.0

I just realized a thing about the system.img_sparsechunk files present in 5.1.1 firmware and 6.0 firmware.

There are files system.img_sparsechunk (0-5) on 5.1.1 where as there are system.img_sparsechunk (0-4) on 6.0.

Is it just me, or is there someone else having two minds flashing the firmware to upgrade. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Some 6.0 have 4 and some have 6. I flashed both without issues.

phone stuck in boot loop after flashing xt1550 firmware and yes i flashed files correctly while checking names.
It would help to see a log of the flashing process. Copy and paste command prompt screen. Take screenshots if necessary.

While I expect it would work fine, I do not recommend repeatedly flashing different Firmware Images. It would be better to wait, if you plan to flash the Retail US 6.0 firmware image if that appears in the next few days.

Hi. Any news on GB Retail 2Gb firmware, please? Need rather urgently. XT1541. Thanks.

---------- Post added at 01:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 AM ----------

I apologise this was already asked above. It appears not to be surfacing online, however.

Let's give a little more background, also. I've unlocked my bootloader (duh), flashed latest twrp recovery and latest snapshot of CM 12.1 on my GB 2Gb XT1541. I've encountered no problems, but I'm looking to return to stock as I believe the OTA for Marshmallow may be coming my way any time soon, and I'd like to try it. I've never upgraded to 6 by the way, so should be fine with future OTAs, correct?

Would I perhaps be able to flash the Great Britain 1Gb XT1541 firmware?

EDIT: Well I tried it and it works fine, I'm not being offered an OTA for newer 5.1.1. Hopefully it'll recognise it's a 2gb phone and download the correct rom.

Your phone is now identified as the 1GB Model and that will be the OTA update version you get offered. I still recommend you avoid all OTA Updates for the sake of stability and performance. There will be XT1541 Retail EU and Retail UK/GB Android 6.0 Firmware Images soon enough. Either can be flashed on your phone.

So, we that have the 2GB RAM of XT1541 should not install OTA/factory images of the 1GB RAM model if it comes out before the 2GB version, right?

So to confirm, nobody has found official stock 2gb UK firmware yet, and I'm now stuck until if/when 6.0 official flashables begin appearing?
Firmware Images are added to first post as they become available. If it's not there, it's not available.

You can flash 2GB Firmware Images on a 1GB phone, and have zero issues at all. However you may also be setting yourself up for a hard fall if Motorola's OTA Update decides it does not like what you have done to your phone.

The only way to be totally safe is to flash the intended Firmware for your phone. If it's not in first post, you have no choice but to wait.

I meant that, I have the XT1541 2GB RAM model, if I flash a 6.0 XT1541 1GB RAM firmware, will it detect 2GB RAM, or will it say that I only have 1GB because I flashed the 1GB RAM firmware?

I would not expect any issue in that area. If you have 2GB of RAM, that's what will be available when running Android - regardless of Firmware.
