This is not the correct thread for this, and I will only reply once here... You should open a new thread in Q&A area.

Well, you will probably have to send it in... You should have done your research and you would have learned it is not possible to root with a locked bootloader, and unless the device can fully booted into the OS it can't be unlocked, and you will likely need to be unlocked to fix this. That said, try to use the same or newer factory image and flash manually, it might be recoverable, may not be without Moto's intervention.

And if you get it fixed, never use Kingroot or any other auto-root method on Moto... Do it manually for everything.

Hi all,

I see this rom available:

Retail US (1GB) - XT1540_OSPREY_RETUS_5.1.1_LPI23.72-47.4_cid9

but i have the 2 Gb version with the same LPI23.72-47.4 number.

can this 1 GB version work on my phone or do i need to wait for the specific rom for the 2 GB version. I tried the lower version that is available for the 2GB device but it didn't work.

Thanks.

So here is the case.
I got a xt1550 which I upgraded to official moto 6.0 and after that unlocked bootloader, flash squid's recovery and flashed cm13. And now I want to switch to official 6.0.1 ROM using the firmware. So, as @lost101 said, a factory reset has to be done before flashing. Is factory reset in cm13 will be the same thing or do I have to flash stock recovery first ?
2.) Since I already updated the device to 6.0, the bootloader is upgraded. So, can I skip that command ?
Really don't want a brick?

Thanks a lot.

I would personally do a factory data reset in Stock Recovery. Bootloader is the same, you can skip the command.

Alright thanks. I'm gonna flash the stock recovery first from the firmware zip to factory reset.

Do I also have to use mfastboot or just fastboot is alright. ?

Hello an thank you,is your way a safe way to completely unroot so that warranty is not void?
You cannot be rooted without unlocking bootloader. If your bootloader is unlocked, your warranty is void. Unless you live in a part of the world where consumer law says otherwise.

Bootloader unlocking is permanent.

These firmware images can be flashed on bootloader locked devices and in no way void warranty.

To unlock Bootloader you must ask Motorola to provide a code specifically for your device, via their website. Once that request is made - the warranty is void - whether you use it or not. Motorola can see the unlock request was made if you ever tried to RMA the phone.

The answer to your question appears to be no.

Here's an answer. If you flashed a custom ROM ( can be done only through custom recoveries) then your warranty is voided permanently coz you unlocked the bootloader. Even if you write " fastboot oem lock" that's just gonna change a single bit to show u that it's locked though it's still unlocked.
So short answer is- if you unlock your bootloader, your Warranty is void no matter what you do with your device afterwards ( root, recoveries, ROMs,firmwares).

Osprey- moto g 2015 (SD 410)
Merlin- moto g 2015 turbo (SD 615)

Hope it helped.
