okay a few questions before i can help,
1. can you boot your device to homescreen?
2. is your device unlocked?
3. have you downloaded the proper firmware from this forum for your device? if yes, then you need to extract that firmware zip to a folder and please attach a screenshot of all the files extracted.
4. Does your computer (or laptop) have motorola drivers and fastboot drivers installed?

Thanks; I was trying to follow instrutions that linked me here. Unfortunately I still fall at the second hurdle but the bootloader is already unlocked (status code 3)...

Code:
C:\XT1541_5.1.1>fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
target reported max download size of 268435456 bytes
sending 'partition' (32 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.010s]
writing 'partition'...
[B](bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)[/B]
finished. total time: 0.434s

C:\XT1541_5.1.1>
skip these 2 lines while flashing:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense. Can you add Substratum support for the stock ROMs (basically add the Interfacer) so that we can enjoy Substratum themes on stock ROMs. If you can, try with any of the builds on your device (a build which your model supports obviously) and if it works, please make the other builds too (latest builds preferable) slowly. Take your time. This is a request if only Substratum support can be added. Thanks in advance for your help and support. ?

These are factory firmware images... Untouched from Lenovo, nothing is or will added. If you are asking how you can add it this is the wrong thread to be in, post in Q&A.

Stock rom with root supports substratum...Unlock your bootloader and then give root access..That's it...I used substratum on stock motorola with unlocked bootloader and rooted...It works flawlessly...

i have extracted moto g 2015 xt1548 usc osprey sprint 1gb so is everything ready as i told u that no access to settings and homescreen but only stuck on a place .. see attached photo of a samsung device same condition is with my moto g 2015 xt1548 usc sprint...
Go to fastboot mode, connect phone to pc, if it says USB connected the go to the folder where the firmware is extracted, right click on mouse while holding down shift and go to open command windows here. then paste these codes one by one and after each, press enter and wait until it says finished successfully:
Code:
mfastboot oem fb_mode_set
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot erase customize
mfastboot erase clogo
mfastboot oem fb_mode_clear
mfastboot reboot
if you have fastboot and not mfastboot then write fastboot instead of mfastboot. and if you get preflash validation failed error then skip these 2:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img

P.S. if your firmware have less sparsechunk files, eg. 6, then you dont need to enter 7, and if your firmware has more than 7,eg. 8 or 9 then you need to flash those too, with one or 2 extra lines of code depending on the number of sparsechunk files (this is the reason why i asked for an image of that folder where you extracted your firmware, so that i could guide you with the exact thing.).

Well, I'm using a custom ROM (called as Tesla ROM). It has Android 7.1.1 and works very well with Substratum. I just wanted to have stock with rootless. That's it.

What I said is stock aosp based roms like our motorola ...Works at its very best with substratum....Root is only what you need

Well, I know this is stock and untouched. If he can and if he has sources, then maybe he can add it and mention it as a build with Substratum support (maybe is what I'm telling again). Or maybe a new thread. I'm not asking how to add it.

OK if anyone here knows where I can get the sources (source code I mean) for the stock ROM by any chance, please tell me. Thanks!

We cannot get source for the complete stock rom, only kernel source. Substratum can be used on stock root... A user mentioned that just a few posts back.
