General

Any ROM for S will Work for SL BUT you lose 1.7GH Speed & model number.
ROMs for S Can be installed for SL using following method. Also, if you get status 7 error in Recovery when flashing it can be solved following this method

>>>In ROM zip file (that u downloaded) Goto HERE:
META INF>com>google>android (use 7-zip which can edit without extraction)
Now u'll see a file named UPDATER-Script>Open it>Now if U see following lines or similar
assert(getprop("ro.product.device")"LT26i" || getprop("ro.build.product") "LT26i" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "nozomi" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "nozomi");

OR LIKE THIS-

** Delete Those lines (normally 1 or two line) & Save the zip file with change and its ready to flash **

Indonesia
Confirmed miui v4 battery life ++ works fine on my SL ......
But we must change all "Lt26ii" words to "Lt26i" and all "Xperia SL" words to "nozomi" in build.prop first ....
And singapore's tft .55 ics is all the way faster and smoother than indonesia's tft .....

Good thread.
Im be more than happy to help out any xperia sl user , with respect to thread starter, with queries or questions regarding anything within my knowledge. So i try to list things that i myself have some problem or question asked before.

To start off,
1. Yes you can root .55 with a software install on your PC (just a click away)
2. No, rooting dont need to unlock boatloader.
However, to install custom kernel, need to unlock boatloader.
3.Unlock boatloader will lose mobile bravia engine(confirm)
4.Relock booatloader can get back MBE by folling steps found in Android dev.
5.Custom rom for xperia S can work, just that device will change to LT26i. (im using Xboom v7 final with stock SL kernel)

I will add more if i rmbr any.

I flashed many of the stock, CM10, and 10.1 roms and changed nothing in those files. It actually change anything or simply name of the device?

Is anyone using XS B-Room ROM? It is fast for you compared to stock .55? Because it is hell of a lag on mine SL..

I don't think there is any problem in flashing XS GB on sl, but it will surely convert sl to s, but u can overclock it by using some kernel.

yes i know..i tried many rom based stock and aosp/cm based rom..and custom kernel too..but now its time for GB..hahaha..actually, in my opinion, speed/oc only make our phone smooth a little..bcoz, last two year im using Xperia Neo, u know its only 1Ghz, single core and only 512 ram..im using stock rom..pure stock rom..only remove bloatware..im not using custom rom n custom kernel..its smooth..very2 smooth..i played Asphalt 6 until finished, all star unlocked without any lagging..but nowdays, dual-core oso lagging..not just dual-core, its processor oso higher than 1Ghz..i tried Xperia U, Gal S2, Gal Tab Plus, not too smooth..yes we can using custom aosp/cm rom to make it smooth, but, to me, there r no custom rom without bugs..so i like rom based on stock more..im not the person 24 hours sitting in front of my laptop..its just opnion.. :)

I think you should flash some 4.2 custom room instead of JB
I've tried many of custom JB ROMs and kernels. They all have some problems and disadvantages compared to stock, like low speaker volume, losing network, battery drain, brightness bugs, crappy camera etc etc... On the other side, stock .55 have ALL working good but very slow.
For now, JB leak in my opinion is better than custom ROMs.
