XDA Labs
Important update: XDA Labs: officially discontinued.
12/31/20:

Support for XDA Labs is tentatively ending at the end of this year, but we’re exploring options to keep it going because we know that a small handful of developers use Labs to distribute their apps. We’re hoping to open source and find a team to take the reins and continue development, and if you’re a developer that wants to work on Labs, send a PM to svetius.

Why does the forum look so weird?

The new Flattened forums and Thread Prefixes

Going forward all new Device forums will not include the old subforums (Help, General, Dev...)
Instead, there will be just one forum.
These new flattened forums will include Thread Prefixes
Like this.
Screenshot 2021-03-30 162804.png

Which can be used to Quickly filter the forum to show only the type of thread you are looking for.

Another Change
If you go to Manufactures
and click on OnePlus or any other

Even some older Device forums have been flattened into one section.
These older forums do not use the new Thread prefixes.

Toggle Website Width Button
This only works with a Full desktop browser (not android mobile)
woodman's post

If you don't see the toggle button try zooming out to 80% or less.

You may also want to minimize the left column.
How to Minimize the left column in the Desktop Browser.

Button is only visible if document's width is at least 1661px. Just zoom out the page or use inspector to remove "display: none" style.

How do I create a new Thread?

First, find the correct forum to post in (see below)

Find the Thread title box, and click on it, the message box and other option will be shown.

Read the Rules
and [Guide] How and Where to Ask a Question

Next if this is a about a certain device, do a search for that device
If that device has its own device forum post there.

If the device/topic doesn't have its own forum
Question go in https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/questions-and-answers.456/
General Discussion go in https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/general.256/

How do you make a search within a specific thread? I know that there is an option "this thread", but every word that I used as a keyword, even if it was such a normal word like "android", gave me a no result found answer.

It was a lot easier with the old theme or layouts or whatever it was.
