So...I left my phone on the charger overnight (about 8 hours or more) after I had depleted it to about 10%. Woke up, still charging, only had 45% battery! Wtf? And the phone was heated to about 50C. Not normal right? According to my battery info my screen uses 86% with a static wallpaper.

I would do a factory reset.. this is definitely not normal.. and if it still doesnt fix it, then go in for a replacement.

Got my Sensation yesterday.. played the whole evening (say about 3 hours) on the battery level it came out of the box.. then charged it in switched off mode for 8 hours (first charge).. now its on, on stand by, seems to be using less than 2% an hour...

Still early to conclude.. but i will be back later on to give you more details..

It took a while to charge the first couple days as well and this charge I'm talking about was after a factory reset to fix another issue (video taken with camera not playing). I should probably just take it in and return it...

Update on battery

Minimum use (mostly standby) - Wifi on... for the last 2.5 hours I have lost 2%

THAT IS NOT BAD!!!!!

Oh plus one full restart in this 2.5 hour (not fastboot - FULL)

My battery is horrible too bit I remember my nexus being the same and it got better eventually. I also have noticed that auto brightness on the sensation sucks, its always at full brightness so I have just adjustedbit to always be at 50 and its doing a lot better

I figured out what's causing the problem. You have to use the cable it came with. Every time I user a different cable my battery charges writers but then I switch to the stock cable and everything is fine.

I am using a HTC cable that came with my old Nexus One and the wall charger from my MyTouch 4G and it seems to be working fine now.

BTW!!! I did a factory reset and my battery life is WAAYYYYYYYYYY better. I charged it to 100% before bed then unplugged it to see how much drain I got overnight. Woke up 8 hours later to 96% battery!!! Much better than waking up to 56%! I am happy now :D

observations after 1 week of use.

1. yes, battery life does improve with time.
2. idle phone battery usage is very good.
3. app like juice defender beta does help indeed.
4. no factory reset done and only using stock cable to charge.

hope this helps.

Solved my problem.

I disabled HTC HUB and Facebook Sync and now the battery seems to be holding its charge. Been at 69% for the last hour and a half, was losing around 4/5% an hour without use. Try that see if it works for you also.

Greenifying power hungry apps might help. I've tried it and it helps.

In my opinion a kernel, which is very close to a stock one, has the beste battery life, but not the best performance. There is still no kernel, which has a good battery life + good performance (my opinion).

Best tip to save energy is to reduce the display brightness (eg disable automatic brightness...).

With this tips i got a battery life about 2 days (with 4,5 hours display on), with anker battery.
