You have now 2 options.
1 buy unlock code from eBay and unlock your phone.
2 flash via lgup 20i kdz.

There are no unlock codes anymore. Many newer phones have done away with that and only allow network provider unlocks. It has been a major pain for users who aren't on the original network.

How was it unlocked in the first place?

with your opinion this problem I mean network lock, related to rom (software)?
Or it was hardware problem?
If the phone unlocked with IMEI then why shoud flashing new rom lock it again? I dont know whats the matter.
I even inter my imei number in the t-mobile site and it say we dont recognize your imei!!!
I think I must use 3rd party sites for help but it cost about 65-70$?

If it was really IMEI unlocked, the official way, it should not have been overwritten with a new ROM flash, or even a LGUp flash. That status is stored on a different partition which is not overwritten with standard reflash.

It's possible your phone was altered with an unreleased software method which of course none of us would be aware of.

Are you sure it's a H830? If it's an official one, T-Mobile should have some record of it. What kind of packaging came with the phone?

Only thing I can suggest is try LGUP back to 20i. Is it network unlocked then? Nothing to lose if you try.

Sorry for my bad english guys?
My lg g5 come with h83020i-un out of the box. That unlocked build have an (un) after version. All available roms for h830 no have this (un) on the end of version. I flash 20a in the official way with lgup.
Its packing is signed with t-mobile on it. And all t-mobile official app has installed on it and yes it is h830. Also some user in internet say that their g5 s imei is not recognized with t-mobile site just like me.
I dont think 20i is network unlocked but for now I have no choice...I download an flash it with lgup today. Its not important to me lose data or not I backup on sd card every thing.

All other G5's have the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & Dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo, Adreno 530 and 4GB RAM.
For those interested, the following LG G5 variants have the same FCC ID of ZNFVS987:
Code:
VS987 - Verizon Wireless variant
US992 - U.S. Cellular variant
RS988 - General North America variant
Presumably, the variants are of the same hardware, but have different firmware.
@autoprime, I believe that it would be good to maintain the known release dates and FCC ID information (or other comparable information from other regions) for the various variants/models and would request that the known information be presented in the initial post to this thread.

Hello! Got H831 (Rogers). Out of box was 10h FW, trying to OTA result "...not registered yet".

LGUP+H830DLL+Latest .kdz 20b = Error 0x2000 at 9%.

IMEI not match for two digits in center with those on box and body. IMEI checking at respective service in Canada says that IMEI is not BListed.

Do I have a chance to make the phone OTA or flash new FW manually (proper DLL for LGUP, some trick mb)?

Thanks a lot!

Very interesting and informative tread! I recently got G5 (T-Mobile) and wanted to enter recovery menu, but looks like all I get is factory reset option. Is there a way to get into recovery to wipe cache?

Recently (perhaps since around mid-year 2016), LG has released their new devices with a stock recovery that is more difficult to access and without an obvious way of seeing the recovery options. I, myself, I tried many key combinations while already booted into recovery,, but could not figure out a combination that would show the various recovery options. One just sees the Android stock robot on its back.

I had that that the T-Mobile version of the LG G5 (model H830) should have been released before these changes by LG. It is possible that a firmware update has updated the stock recovery.

To boot to recovery when the option to boot to the system is available run the following adb command when adb use is available:
Code:
adb reboot recovery

Thanks! Did the old fashioned way by using adb command. I had an issue where Advanced messaging option wouldn't appear in settings of messaging app, but after wiping cache, it works.

Hi @autoprime,

since today your rom/zip download page raises a warning for a page known for phishing. Do you have a new one or noticed it already?!

By the way will you provide a flashable zip for the G5-H850/20i version?!

Kind regards
Dirk

Yes the phishing/deceptive warning started yesterday. Google has decided to flag some of my files as dangerous and then flagged my entire directory. Some of the files they decided are dangerous are stock lg USB drivers, stock lg recovery.img, LGUP and some of my root files like ioroot. Obviously none of these files are dangerous and google is in error here.

Until google sorts this I will not be adding any new files or updates to my directory.

*update*
as of a few minutes ago google has fixed the phishing/deceptive error for my directory.
as long as this sticks I will look into 20i.. as long as no one else has made a 20i rom.

I have the 830 and think i have unlocked the bootloader, well it says about bootloader corruption at startup so i guess. Have downgraded from 20i to 20a, tried to flash twrp with fastboot but just get teh dead robot. Are there any instructions on how to flash twrp and root this device??? it can only be a few command surely.

No, you need to run the recowvery scripts. (search to find that thread). The recovery cannot be replaced without running that exploit first on 20A. It has never been able to be flashed using the standard fastboot commands on this phone, as they are crippled.
