i still echo # ravian29 findings in his
previous post.( in this thread.)
Each and every time If you do a normal reboot
OEM toggle disappears.
It will only appear again if you have a data connection
and phone can confirm that certain conditions are met.!
But what conditions, has to be met ?

I have done normal reboots with my phone and OEM disappeared each and every time and was not visible until i switched my data on and do a reboot.
Only then did OEM appear (immediately).

After first initializing the phone, has anybody else (who hasn't soft-bricked before) successfully been able to flash twrp/root and retain the unlock condition following the 7 day wait period? I'm wondering if soft-bricking sets off a flag that makes subsequent attempts to keep OEM unlock off, simply fail. And if this is true then we may have 2 camps of ppl:

- those who haven't softbricked and can successfully keep OEM unlock disabled post 7 day wait period (Initialization)
- those who softbricked and are unsuccessful at keeping OEM unlock disabled post 7 day wait period (Jail Time)

Nah, I did it like 10 times. When this started out we were trying various schemes to get the toggle to show and that meant flashing a lot of firmware as well as trying resets, a couple different apks and flashes one of our kind developers gave us, BLs, CSCs, etc. Tasted a lot of pain. Actually when I look back on it I might of popped the binaries more than ten times. I'm pretty sure it isn't a factor because I've been rooted, rom'ed from the time I gave up, waited what ended up being 5 days, and installed my first rom. Done it twice more since then, once with the update to the first rom and then I moved over to light rom. Still chugging along just fine.

I'm not sure why folks don't just follow the format that works? I would.

Their first batch of phones were from Taiwan & all who bought them reported having the issue. Then someone purchased one from their second batch & reported that they didn't have the issue.

Luckily their first batch was sold out whe. I was looking to buy mine & then came across those reporting the issue. I decided to avoid all this mess & went with tbe F from Clove. Well worth it. F will have more development but should be compatible with Ns.

Not sure if that makes a big difference or not but I didn't want to take any chances.
We'll have to see if that missing band makes a difference. I have 30 day return period with paid shipping

The phone will still work with TMO just fine, just not sure if that missing band affects speeds. Kalm_Traveler has a N on Tmobile & he is now having LTE speeds problem. I was going to ask in his thread if he might have thought it was related but he stated he didn't have the speed issue at first so I never asked. I'm not sure whatbthe AWS band actually is. Maybe some one else who knows will chime in.

I saw that too and he was on the F firmware on a 950n.
His mod works on n firmware but doesn't bring WiFi calling which isn't a big loss.

Excited to get the device and return this paperweight TMobile note 8

So Taiwan batches are a no go (was told by another seller OEM works..)? Where are their second batches from?

Why not just flash a different firmware for the same model? Wouldn't that fix the problem?

Are you able to use Samsung Pay just fine with your US cards?

I have no idea if all Taiwan models have the OEM unlock issue. And I have no idea what the second batch of phones are from never-msrp, I avoided that seller so I have no info on them other than what I have seen posted by others.

Flash firmware? I'm not sure what you mean exactly, flashing firmware to try & resolve the OEM unlock issue doesn't work, it's been tried already, it's not a firmware issue. Or if you meant flashing firmware to resolve the missing band issue on the N, that wouldn't work either, that's a hardware difference.

Samsung Pay, no idea, I've got TWRP & root. Haven't kept up with what workarounds there are these days if any, I just remember tripping Knox breaks it & I have obviously tripped it. I have never used Samsung or Android Pay ever, never had a stock Android either. I don't care for the feature & probably never will. I don't use credit cards unless I purchase something online.

Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't even have the OEM unlock issue. I have the F from Clove UK. I'm just here in this thread cause I'm curious & hopefully see a solution.

The XSG firmware was tried?

Wasnt there a root that didnt trip knox released just recently?

Samsung Pay is quite useful.....You could use it wherever you want to use your card; shops, gas, subway, parking, groceries and so on. It does not require any dedicated reader or system and works on most any POS system regardless of whether it has tap and pay or not (unlike android pay/apple pay etc).

No idea about the XSG firmware.

Yes there is a root that doesn't trip Knox but that's for Snapdragon, the same type of root for S8 snapdragon that uses the engineering firmware with 80% charge limit. We here are all Exynos & with TWRP installed it won't matter anyway if there was a root like that for Exynos.

Thanks for the "encouragement". I am aware of how Samsung pay works for the most part, sounds pretty cool & convenient but it won't benefit me. I don't use credit cards anymore to pay in person.
