It's not the model, some Fs have the issue also. No one knows exactly why yet but it seems to be related to the region where the phone originated.
this is getting ridiculous ,and i sold my sg8 for this, can i buy a N model this wont happen for SURE? i heard i had tmobile issues but i see tmobile but it got the 1700 though

I personally won't say yes for sure but it seems like yes, I haven't seen anyone with a N report that they have had the OEM unlock issue. Doesn't even seem to have region lock. And as you know it seems like all the ones from Clove UK are good which are Fs.

I didn't care about saving a bit of money, I didn't want to deal with any of this. I choose to wait before buying. Once I saw that at least a few people didn't have the issue with Clove Is when I pulled the trigger.

N is missing 1700mhz AWS which tmobile does use but I'm not sure what AWS band is. I've already asked but again anyone know what it is. N still connect to the other LTE band Tmobile uses though. There are guys using Ns on tmobile without issues but it seems like now some are having reception issues possible do to a defective pcb.

Of course no one knew all this crap would happen. That would have been great to save all that money but now people are going to loose even more having to sell & purchase again if that's the route they take.

I paid just under $1050 from Clove with the upgraded DHL shipping. Exchange rates fluctuate so it will be +/-. I would have paid $1013 if I bought a snapdragon from my carrier or through Samsung. So I was more than happy to pay that price to avoid the headaches, I saved $1000 cause I would have ended up throwing the damn phone out the window.

You know gents, I've made three successful flashes. The first was an experiment that surprisingly enough worked. The second and third were reports here making me wonder if I was going to get bitchslapped upside the head the next time I decided to do, whatever. I figured I would rather find out than die slowly from a thousand paper cuts as the saying goes and so I flashed. Failure meant either getting another N8 that was known to be good or possibly a Pixel XL2. Fail did not happen. I would ask those that are willing to consider trying the incredibly stupid and yet it works flash method to try it. Get enough there and then we know we have a work around or we know we can look elsewhere for our next phone.

I've taken plenty for the team on this one. I flashed a whole bunch of crap to start with before this thread even began because as near as I can tell I was possibly the first one on XDA with a dual sim N8. I've seen the damn binaries more times than I want to even think about. Miss krab is telling me to just buy the frickin Pixel because she's tired of hearing me go on a rant. I've made multiple flashes even after everything was working to verify the process worked in the first place.

We are not going to get out of this without getting close enough to ask someone with real skills to step in on something specific. I have a life. You have a life. They have a life. We have to get it narrowed down to something less than Hercules labors. Follow the process we think works if that's what you want to do. If it should turn out it doesn't work report it. If it does report that. Those that feel frisky change the process but change only one single step report your result. That will help to identify some of the extra steps we know have to be there and we can remove them.

We have to do work that can be repeated by others, it's the basis of any successful experiment and how you can ultimately determine a truth. Keep gathering data in this way and eventually there will be nothing left but the answer. It may be we cant have any effective response to that answer but as I type this my phone which has been rom'ed for almost ten days now sits next to my laptop. It's very existence says we have hope until someone can prove that hope false.

For those that bought from never-msrp:
How long did it take to get yours?
Where did it ship out from? Domestic USA or Taiwan/HK?
Got OEM UNLOCK on yours a week activation?
Do never-msrp provide any warranty? There is no information listed about warranty length, warranty coverage and shipping costs to and fro for faulty unit.
