Posted over at DroidDog, it appears that the new Galaxy Nexus is currently the fastest phone available when it comes to the browser:

And while the browser benchmarks are impressive, DroidDog did go on to say:

"But while the G-NEX kicked but[sic] in the browser test it couldn’t compete with the iPhone in the graphics department."

Hopefully, we'll get to experience the quickness very soon whenever Verizon gets off their hinds and releases our phones.

I disagree. A majority of the review sites use the Browser benchmarks as the ultimate decider on how good a phone is. A phone isn't used for gaming very often...but *is* used for browsing. The browsing score is much more important to most people than the gaming scores. As long as it plays most basic games I'm fine with it...but having the browser be the quickest is very important to me.

browser improvements seem to be mostly linked to ICS as well as the TI OMAP having to do a little with it.

The Nexus S with ICS seemed to get a huge boost in browser performance.

Let's see how GSII and other devices stack up against the GN once they get ICS.

The Galnet ICS port for GSII shows it getting faster sunspider score than the Galaxy Nexus by a bit. Though this one is clocked at 1.6ghz. I'd say its an even battle.

You're right. They've optimized the browser "dramatically" (lol) on ICS. From the Android site: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-4.0-highlights.html

Browser mark is flaky at best. I've played with a Bionic and gotten like 93k then 98k with a RAZR. The scores fluctuate a lot. My concern is they said the phone stutters, the display is pixelated and the audio issues. Plus Verizon is gonna bloat it down sad day for me.

browser speeds are cool(if you're into that), but who uses stock browser anyway? Its all about, how well does it multitask? Handle 720P video playback? GPS lock? Does it get hot easily like HTC phones? Will the screen bother your eyes like the RAZR?..

And Ofcourse, FPS on Angry Birds? SIRI(IRIS) issues? ;P

I get 4000 in quadrant and the only thing in the graph on anttoto that is faster than my note is the transformer prime.

Also getting 1900 in sunspider on a big stock galaxy note. I think the note will kick even more as a when ICS is released in jan/feb.

Where did you hear the display on the Nexus is pixelated? Every review I've read highly praises the display, going as far to say it's one of the best, if not the best, displays out there. And Verizon's gonna "bloat it down"? Two apps, both required by Verizon so the phone can be used on their network. If that's "bloating it down", then yeah...dunno what to say.

Well no Duh! Apple took a year old phone, slapped 2 pieces of upgraded hardware and sold it as new. The sad part is that its not faster in every department. If there gonna sell a year old phone as new, they better have the stats to support it.

The funny part is a Lot of Apple customers wont admit it, but they really want a bigger screen. So Apple can do either of 2 things, make the iPhone 5 with a 4.5inch screen in which case I will love to watch all the iSheep who said that they loved having a small phone squirm. Or keep it small to save face and make the iSheep suffer with the tiny ass screen.

What are you taking about? The 4S is a beast. It owns in the spec department. No denying that. And who says all the "iSheep" want small screens? Read more Apple forums - there are varying opinions. A big screen was one of the most wanted things for the 4S. Also, what do you mean "The sad part is that its not faster in every department."? Are you talking about whether the 4S was faster in every department than the 4? Cuz it is. EVERYTHING on the 4S is speedier than the 4, whether it's app loading, games, animations, browsing, even data speeds.

Get off your high-horse, and realize that the Nexus and iPhone 4S are basically head to head. No one is better than the other - it all depends on what you want. Both have very distinct and exclusive features that you can't replicate on the opposing handset. It comes down to what you need. Both are amazing.
