Can I do it using a Lollipop Rom?
Yes

Can I do it on OD2?
I don't think so, but maybe... The best bet is to use NG2 and then experiment from there...

An NG2 Stock Rom (modem and ROM) here is an Odin tar that i used when I did it.
Odin from the same post that tar came from... (here)
Great work bro..

Let me get this straight if I read it right. Its seem you instruction to downgrade the Rom by flash NG2 Stock rom. If my Sph-L720 on Lollipop OD2 rom, can I still flash back to NG2 stock and using this method? By flash back to NG2 from OD2 will cause boot looping or any problem?? Please be advice. thanks

Thanks again for reply. Have you thought about just downgrade the modem on OD2 instead the whole Rom? Downgrade the modem unlocked the old school way and re-flash the whole OD2 to clear the MDC modem. That way, you don't have root and void the knox etc...

Ssu.apk doesn't work on od2. And you can't flash just the ng2 modem and it work, there is a hybrid ng2/od2 modem that works, but the unlock needs to be done on ng2, it needs the modem and the rom

http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltespr
the newest ones work now though

Thanks Chris for instruction.
Need an easy way to have the data work on T-mobile or AT&T. Is any advice anyone??
Just find the correct apn for your carrier, if you are on stock you may need to find an app in the play store to let you edit the apns

i tried the newest cm but it doesnt show network everything before i flash cm 12.1 stock works i mean it says h+ but gets 2g speeds but hey better then nothing lol
maybe try the jfltetmo cm12.1 thats what i actually use, but youll have to make some changes

in the zip, find
META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script

then find the line that says
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jfltetmo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jfltetmo" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "jflte" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jflte" || abort("This package is for device: jfltetmo,jflte; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););
should be the first line... and change it to

Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jfltespr" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jfltespr" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "jflte" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jflte" || abort("This package is for device: jfltespr,jflte; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););

Problem

Followed instructions meticulously, finished the TWRP reboot. Phone stops booting at the Sprint splash screen. Any thoughts? TIA

And that's exactly why I posted that it's not adviseable to recommend using a custom ROM or recovery when one isn't necessary to perform the procedure.

OP forgot to mention that if you're coming from Lollipop, you will need to do a data wipe in TWRP to avoid a soft brick.

I've also suggested to OP that he simplify his post, as neither root access nor custom recovery is needed for this procedure. But his thread is his thread...
