Is this the fix we are waiting for?

Prevent sleep of death caused by framework NPE (android_frameworks_base)

Phones been boot looping more often these past few weeks.

Has there been any breakthrough into what's causing this?

libdvm.so maybe? There are some devs that took a look in to the logs, it points to the dalvik.

Since I'm not a dev, I(naive) replaced that lib with the one in the OXygen ROM (wich doesn't crash at all), after the reboot, everything FC and had to install CM7 again.

So I tried 7.2 Kang release.

I had it running for 85+ hours (uptime) and finally crashed after checking an email and put it back to sleep.

It bootlooped with screen on. had to pull the battery.

Hey guys, so if anybody still running CM7 and having bootloops or blackfreezes. I think I found the solution, I tried swapping the dalvik libs in CM7 (official) and everything force closes, but doing this in a custom CM7 (MV 259, it can almost be reverted to stock look) it works, I have an uptime of 132 hrs now and no sign in crashing.
Possible culprit: Dalvik lib.

I know
It used to happen to me too. sometimes it wont crash in 1 week but I will reboot the phone and after 1 hour it will be bootlooping.

You know now, I switched the libdvm, and at 140+ hours I saw that the phone rebooted, phone was idle and sleeping, and I said !#[email protected], however, after like 5 seconds it recovered perfectly, it didn't stay in the loop, I think a SMS triggered this.

I went back to a more simple kernel (w/o too many mods and is doing ok)

Hopefully this is it, reading many post and seeing the logs all had something to do with the libdv.so

Is this something that can be changed in the actual build? I guess not for 7 anymore, but 9.

Just an update:
After 1 month 1 day of switching the lidvm.so results:
0 Boot loops and 0 Black freezes
1 normal reboot(didn't loop) I think it was kernel related, I switched to Lucid 1.4B now

So it really worked, never missed an alarm during that period or anything.

I finally will pause my flashing, and enjoy.

instructions...
download the boot animation. using root explorer, copy this bootanimation.zip to the /system/media/ folder. yes, copy over the one thats already there. then just reboot. YOU are doing this to your phone, not me. DO NOT FLASH THIS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.as i didnt flash it so im not sure that you can.
i do not know who made this but thank you very much. and much thanks to Avetny for passing this to me :D
EDIT---CONFIRMED WORKING ON NEXUS ONE AND EVO :D

Hi Sims,
When i tried o download the bootanimation from the dropbox location, it showed a different file with trinity not the one with honeycomb animation as in the youtube video. Can you please reshare the honeycomb one as i had been searching for it last few months but was not able to find for nexus s :(.. thanks in advance
