I was very disappointed in trying to use my Sensation in bright sunlight yesterday.

I was standing next to my mate who has the original Samsung Galaxy and his was much more readable. Is the Galaxy 2 a different and even better screen to the Galaxy?

Even better - Uses "RGB" sub-pixels instead of "pentel-matrix"...basically it gives a 50% increase in sub pixels making the resolution appear higher than it is. And it's thinner, more efficient and brighter I think.

have a read. :)

Hogwash. Having a an RGB setup doesn't make it appear to have a resolution higher than it is. RGB is the standard and as such the pentile setup made it seem lower resolution than other screens with the same resolution.

But it is better than the predecessor since it has a "standard" setup for the resolution, it IS thinner, and maybe even more efficient and brighter (though I can't remember if that part's accurate).

But if you can read your sensation in broad daylight don't worry too much over it. And remember, SLCD is more energy efficient than super amoled plus when displaying white screens (most web pages, ebooks, etc.)

Sorry about the hogwash.

That makes sense - HENCE most of sense 3.0 is white, whereas TouchWiz 4.0 is mostly black.

It's not really "hogwash." It was just written slightly incorrectly. Due to the change in matrix it DOES appear higher res than some previous amoled screens. Which i think was the point he was making.

How does the sensation screen hold up against samsung I have seen samoled plus and its amazing how does the sensation compare

I found the GS 2 screen like the original GS screen to be rather dayglo. The colours always look rather unnatural to me on both.

is that not where it is now-ish? :p

OLD -> AMOLED -> Super AMOLED -> Super AMOLED Plus???
It still carry forwards issues like synchronization problem between pixels, white problems and black bats etc. Synchronization problem can be seen on grey stuff, on a purr white page.ie webpage. The brightness regulator doesn't really work well then n u see odd stuff like colour in grey pictures, black bars on places where there is text, ghosting etc and don't forget burn in. Oled displays are prone to burn in

I had Desire and Galaxy S so I can confirm those issues are real. OLED is a new technology so it needs to be improved in some ways like whites, tints, limited dpi etc. It's great but needs more time to be perfect.

I have a nexus one and two vibrants and all of them have these issues. The root cause is the brightness regulator as it isn't able to handle all the pixels properly. The density of pixels. You shouldn't be increasing display size just to pack in more subpixels. It doesn't have a good response time. The burn in problem though not big but definitely there

From the comparison I saw on slashgear.

The Samsung looks like complete ass compared to HTC which is a big surprise.

Is this really the super whatever plus that people are masturbating to? The webpage looks horrible on it.

Well, it wasn't quite directed at Daivik, but rather Samsung. He was just repeating what Samsung says about the screen and what some sites say. And yes, it improves the sharpness compared to previous amoled screens but the way it's said is designed to make it seem like it's sharper and higher res than all types of screen at that resolution when it only brings it up to par.

I read a lot, and I meant a LOT (my main use for my phone is reading, be it web pages, novels, short stories, material for school or work, etc.), so I personally prefer a truly higher resolution screen than oversaturated colours. Plus the dangers of burn in scare me off amoled. It's one of the things of having moved on to LCDs from CRTs, no burn in. And I'd hate to have that level of horridness on a phone.

Sorry about the hogwash.

Like I said, the "hogwash" wasn't meant to be an attack on you;) And I've always believed your observation is correct and one of the reasons why porting Sense to a Galaxy S or SII is not such a good idea since the supposedly great battery life could go flying out the window if the UI were to suddenly become bright and colourful and happy looking rather than having the somber blacks it currently has.
