It shouldn't keep reading it, once it's touching and read once it should be fine.

Also, if you use NFC Task Launcher with its "Switch" mode, you don't need a second tag, just take your phone off the same one and tap again to switch it back to normal mode.

I have one set up in work and one next to my bed.

Work:
===
1st Tap:
*Wifi On
*Connect to work wifi
*Ringer Silent

2nd Tap:
*Wifi Off
*Ringer to Normal
*Start Player Pro

Bed:
===
1st Tap:
*Notification light off
*Auto sync off
*Mobile data off
* Wifi off

2nd Tap:
* Notfication light on
* Auto-sync on
* Mobile data on

I'm thinking of writing an app I can hook into from NFC Task Launcher to, for example, log my in and out times of work into a database.

If anyone can come up with a useful idea I'm happy to throw a quick app together if it's useful (and isn't too involved, I don't have unlimited time you know :p).
If you happen to do an app, can you show me how to do it. I am very interested in this technology. It would be greatly appreciated!

how do you toggle GPS within NFC task launcher? i cannot find that task in the list.

I used NFC Task Launcher first buddy, but the reason I switched to tasker is because the task was too large and wouldn't write the tag using NFC TL :(

I'll try again and will post some screenies....really appreciate your help bud

you need ntag203 tags (144k) to write tasks like this

this may sound funny but in winwiz case , can you use two program tag side by side to scan on at one time ? also maybe add more function to it

Does any of the nfc tag have compatibility issues with S3? thinking of ordering this NFC Sticker/Adhesive Label/Tag RFID IC 13.56MHz ISO14443A Mifare1k S50 MF1

Here's a fantastic use of tags or in this case Samsung TecTiles. I recently received a package from a friend and instead if him sending a letter with the package, he simply wrote a tectile for me to scan. Worked great.

You can use them as QR codes. For example calendar event for an upcoming concert.

Recently seen a simple for sale sign with tectile affixed. It then took me to website showing items for sale. Pretty neat! No pen nor paper were harmed in this NFC.

I'd love to be able to write macros and if-then-else statements.

I use it for auto-enabling a custom "car-mode" - NFC sticker on my car-dock, just to turn bluetooth on.

First I tried to program the tag with every action, but it was quite slow imo.
So I reduced it to bluetooth-on only and do the rest with a tasker profile.

Result:
When I mount my phone in the car dock,
- NFC activates bluetooth (you don't say?)
- phone connects to car-stereo via bluetooth automatically
- tasker runs the car-mode-profile, when paired with car-stereo (mac-adress bound)
- display timeout to 1h
- auto-brightness off
- brightness level 100%
- start poweramp
- wait 3s (cause my bluetooth controller @car-stereo has a little lag)
- volume 100%
- start media playback
- when not paired anymore tasker runs exit task
- display timeout back to 15sec
- kill poweramp
- auto-brightness on
- bluetooth off

So I just have to mount my phone in the car-dock and it automatically starts playing music via poweramp over the car stereo.
I'm considering flashing the NFC-with-screen-off-MOD, so I don't have to turn on the screen, when mounting.

I've set a tag up in the bathroom under the lip of the counter to ensure wifi is on, set media volume to max, and open up my sirius/xm app. Luckily for whatever reason I haven't had to modify the phone to read nfc while locked/screen on.

Isn't that a waste of a tag?

Depends what you call a waste.. the tag is re-writeable so no the tag is not really wasted. Though.. they are cheap enough to discard if you so choose to do so.

No dude. Someone paid to send me a gift. They also wrote a tag for me to scan and read instead of sending a letter. I thought it was pretty cool and worked out great. Not sure why you felt the need to post a negative comment putting down the use of a tag. I created this thread to give other users ideas of how to use the tags- that was an example. If your here putting down the fact that he gave up a tag that's just retarded. I bought a starter pack and STILL have a bunch of unused tags. Nothing wrong with sharing and finding a use for em.. don't be an ass... troll somewhere else kthanksbye. :rolleyes:

Any thoughts on how the tags will fare if you put them eg under a desk. Will the phone still be able to "touch" it through a few cm of wood?
Doubtful.. they need to be VERY close. Not touching, but close enough. You may try it but I'm thinking any further than a cm prob won't be close enough.

I just gave it a go for you and the answer is no, it doesn't work.

Thank you for testing. I really doubt the missus will appreciate having these white stickers around (at least visible). It would also seem even more magical if I could just put the phone on the living room table instead of fishing out a tag from the closest drawer.

You're welcome. All I can suggest is perhaps if you find something fairly thin, that you can stick it to the other side of, or underneath, you should be ok ... I'm just going to test a drinks coaster now ... ok, a 4mm thick drinks coaster worked fine.

Perhaps failing that you could print or draw something nice onto the white tags., put them inside some sort of ornament that is thin enough to work with.

Personally, I have just stuck mine all over the place, but then my house isn't tidy enough for anyone to care :silly:
