I just digged more into the CPU in QSD8x60 It seems to be the same scorpion cpu that ships in the MT4G. According to my data the exynos CPU is 16% faster than the qsd8x60 at the same clock speed ( 2.5 DMIPS vs 2.1 DMIPS ) being architecturally different as exynos is cortex a9 and the other one is Custom Cortex A8 so the lower score. The Sensation Smartbench productivity score is exactly 2.4x that of a stock mt4g. Other things that are affecting smartbench is the Memory Score, I/O of Sensation is around 0.5x that of GS2 and 2d score is around 0.25 x (lower due to more resolution) of that of GS2 maybe due to the fact GSII has hardware acceleration. In real day use Memory, I/O arent going to be affecting stuff much. The CPU on Exynos is faster, GSII has hardware acceleration and I/O and Memory score on the GSII are much higher. When it comes to graphics at the same resolution they are both on the same speed when on the same resolution but difference comes due to sensations qHD display. So for the performance in day to day life the Sensation isn't gonna be much of a difference over Desire HD or the GSII when executing single threaded apps which are 99% apps on Android market and like with most >1ghz CPU you wont experience lag and for the graphics they are gonna be much much faster and better. The Linpack score which tells you the speed of execution of apps written in Java which most Android apps are it is going to be same as GSII, No difference. When executing Native Apps GSII will be faster but when it comes to Native Apps, Most of the Native Apps are games which depend more on the gpu so here too both are same. When it comes to Multimedia Sensation is faster than GSII as it has a 128bit pipeline but both are capable of decoding/encoding 1080p at 30fps and no one is gonna go beyond that. It will only be different when using anything that is on Neon.

To sum it up
Both Phones are extremely powerful and perform better than each other in different scenarios. They are at a point where the difference are minor when coming to performance. To buy a device it entirely depends on your choice as IMO they are both no.1 at the android device table right now. You wont be disappointed by any of those

Also when u look at the content, compatibility, support, issues HTC Sensation is way way way ahead of any samsung phone. Samsung Phones pretty much have hardware issues and about the content good luck finding any good game working on you Galaxy S II. Its gonna remain the same until game devs find it killing their sales which it certainly isnt gonna do seeing the fact the 3-4 million devices wont make any difference when there are more than 100 million more devices that are supported ( PowerVR, Adreno and Tegra Devices) Thats the main reason i am not buying Samsung Galaxy S II as the content isnt there and samsung can't do anything to support it as the GPU doesn't support compression textures. All the OpenGL1.1 games wont really be working that good as the texture compression for GL1.1 it supports doesnt support transparency so no game dev is gonna go all over their game adding hacks to support transparency and most games today are 1.1 and 2.0 games are rare in android market. Moreover Samsung is not paying anyone to promote their GPU. They need to understand it isnt a PowerVR, adreno or Tegra GPU which already has the GPU companies backing behind. They chose a gpu that might be the fastest but is generic, supports minimum stuff and has no company backing it. And i wont be buying a dual core phone until i wanna game as all the apps work flawless on my Nexus One. Dual Core phones are only for the ones who want to game not for the business class who just want to do work on their phone

I can see why HTC forums always have dedicated mods. The **** slinging from HTC fanboys are always so blatant. They don't even try to be subtle. Too bad the mod doesn't really care anyway. Clap your hands everybody its yet another ground-level mudfest.

Mine has come, the phone is all good so far...loving that at standard DPI I can fit as much on the screen (at least vertically) as I could my Desire Z set to 191.

The unibody is awesome, though there is a tiny nick on the inside next to the edge, which can annoyingly be seen when the phone is attached to the case...it looks as though something has got stuck between the screen and case.

Don't know whether to just dab it with a permanent marker, return it, or just buy another battery cover later on...!
As I understand it the back cover also houses the antennas so don't count on being able to buy another one cheaply.

I rung to do the same as I have dust under the screen, but I am not willing to wait, so have decided to stick with Orange. My contract is due to end and I can upgrade.

Will end up being a lot cheaper for me.

Shame though as I do like the Sensation. Hopefully Orange will get it soon.

The joys of dealing with the online team.

When u get ya fingers burnt once, u learn to stick to ringing them up to place an order. Much less hassle and you get to deal with a person rather than emails.

Yeah I checked on eBay, around 45GBP shipped from Hong Kong. I'll probably stick with it because its so small and can only be seen in the right light. Plus I don't wanna wait a week for stock!

On another issue, it seems as though HTC still only install a single antenna towards the bottom of the phone for cell signal, as holding the phone normally when typing causes me to drop the network in poor signal areas. So I have to hold the phone by the edges with just the tips of my fingers to stay connected in poor signal areas. Was same with Nexus, Desire and Desire Z, though where I am now its holding on slightly better than the former 3 did.

Someone asked if the Sensation has noise cancellation for calls, it'd seem not as its windy here today and my caller could hear it all. My Nexus would cut it out and I'd sound a little metallic to the caller...apparently :)

Wow, that was an amusing read.......SGSII does have some game compatibility issues, re the texture compression. But a software fix is on the way. Besides, it's a "lazy dev" thing, not a technical hardware thing.

So basically all that writing was a total waste of your time. :)

Its really not a lazy dev thing, Its just that when ur developing a game you want it to its full potential and generic texture compression formats dont allow it without hacks/workarounds and using them puts in more codes and bugs and the end result is a size hungry buggy game so these gpu manufacturers provide there own proprietery half open sourced drivers so that their GPU has good games and these probably work across all gpus with little modifications and it isnt hacky. The current thing people on sgsII forum are working on is getting an overlay in between which is for sure gonna be buggy as hell and they'll try getting all those proprietery texture compression formats loaded in the overlay that would be more like asking for C&D + Bugs. Devs will eventually get to it but not anytime soon. Haven't heard from any top devs who are trying to do that

Chainfire one of the best and most respected devs on this site is working on it. if anyone can do it with out bugs its him.

Just remember, if you want to play the best games which are the tegra games, The sensation is also going to need a software fix.

Hi all

Ordered mine today. 30 shekels a month, 600 min and 1 GB data and £25 for handset. Bangtidy. Also bought a Patriot 32 GB microSD Class10 from memoryc.com £75. All pretty decent value I reckon.

P.s. told today online orders only 25% fulfilled. Ringing up on or after release date saves alot of hassle.

Xmas day part deux on Tuesday. Bang tidy!

Got mine today.

First impressions. Wow, first boot mega fast. And the qHD screen, Soo clear.

Second impression. Honestly feel that this is definately THE upgrade from HD2.

Fanboism aside. This makes you buzz on first use. Didn't get that feeling with Galaxy S2. Anyone who loves the S2, enjoy- fair play. But all the [email protected] about benchmarking, battery, bootloader, as a user is loopey talk and people making decision on what goes on behind the scenes rather than user interface experience, is fooling themselves. Honestly really impressed and got for 2 years. :D

Just got mine :

Firstly on vodafone -

Very impressed, went into a store , asked about it, o yes we have a couple left, tried to say only had £40 month deals, said didnt want that, guy got it down
to £35 a month on the deal on the web which what i wanted.

Chatted about it and he said the've sold a load (he first brought out a SGII which made me laugh)

Just phoned vodafone csc - activated sim, canceled the insurance that came with it etc.. no fuss, tried a one line to see if i would keep them, said no and he canceled no problem .

So atm vodafone service 10/10 (im a new vodafone customer btw, been on contracts with tmobile, 3 and orange and these my favourite so far.

Phone itself -

Quick note to add it has come unlocked from the vodafone store (always handy)

Only been playing for 30 mins but very nice, feels nice, lovelyyyy screen.
Very impressed worth the upgrade.
