1-WILL THE HD2 GET AN UPGRADE TO WP7
A-Officially, no. This was announced some months ago that the HD2 will NOT be getting an upgrade to WP7 from MS or HTC.
2-DOES THAT MEAN THAT A CUSTOM WP7 ROM WILL HAPPEN?
A-Maybe. As it has been stated, Cotulla has booted WP7 successfully on HD2 hardware, but it is uncertain as to whether it will work in day to day use. His team is currently VERY secretive about what is/isn't working.
3-WHAT ABOUT ANDROID?
A-I have always said, if you want Android, buy and Android device. WP7 will almost certainly NOT work with current Android builds. Different hardware, different drivers etc. Oh and WP7 is not compatible with CE applications...which means HaRET...and pretty much any program written for WinMo.
4-BUT, THE HARDWARE IS THE SAME!!!
A-No, its not. While yes it has a Snapdragon processor, yes it has 576MB of RAM, its a completely new board. New board=new components, so the old drivers more than likely aren't going to work for the new device.
5-HOW DO YOU KNOW SO MUCH MR. SMARTY!
A-I read! Seriously, read the forums...go back a few pages...this has all been covered before. I am just simply trying to aggregate all the info before the n00bs get here with HD2 in hard wanting a WP7 ROM. In before the n00bs!
6-I WANT A CUSTOM WP7 ROM NOW!
A-I don't care, and neither does Cotulla or his team. Seriously, PLEASE do not bother them about a WP7 ROM on the HD2. They have stated that WHEN or IF it is ever ready, it will be released to the public, and not a minute sooner.
