Have you gotten the small 70 MB Android update yet? Mine was buggy with Nova Launcher Prime, in particular, but after the update, all good.

I like the fingerprint reader better than the ultrasonic in my Note 10+. It's working much better and faster for me so far. Here's hoping that stays true.
What update? I got my phone yesterday and haven't gotten anything. I just ran check update and nothing. There are a few bugs that could be worked out. Hopefully I get whatever update soon to fix.

Hollow screen sound is a bit strange

Nova launcher crashes which is a shame because I don't like the search bar forced at the bottom of the screen on the pixel launcher.

Camera is brilliant

Power button is in the wrong place and should be swapped with the volume buttons is.

Lack of screen protectors available to get delivered is frustrating but not Google's issue.

It's fast, smooth and had a great camera. The rest I am still get used to. Prefer it to my S21 ultra, maybe not loving it as much as my Mi 10 Pro.

How do you compare Screen (brightness, richness, overall quality) between P6P and S21 Ultra?

When you get a chance, please provide how do you feel about going from Note 10 + to P6P?

I really hated Samsung's software, and I loved my Pixel 1's software, which is what I was using for 3 1/2 years until Google stopped updating it. Samsung's hardware is awesome, but I just didn't like how things worked. Do Not Disturb is gimped some compared to on the Pixel - other things are arranged in a way that makes them really inefficient on such a huge screen, including re-arranging and adding to your Quick Settings tiles.

So the software alone is worth it to me. The biggest thing I'll miss is the ability to use a MicroSD card.

Compared to the S21 ultra is an interesting one. I had the Mi 10 Pro for 16 months before moving to the S21, and within 2 weeks regretted the move. I had the Mi set up like an old glove, it just did everything so well. I wanted the extra refresh rate camera goodies with the S21 Ultra, but they didn't compensate for the loss of user experience.

The Pixel is interesting. It's more buggy so far than the S21, the camera though for every day pics is light years ahead, simply because you shoot what you see, the S21 always lags a split second and looses focus etc. I found the Ultra ok, but never once loved it. In time I think I could bond better with the pixel.

Twitter scrolling appears to be a little sticky in the pixel, but if I can get Nova stable then I'll be much happier than I was with the Samsung overall. I guess some updates and patches will iron out the kinks as we go.

Agree with that. The S21U had a big update in Sept which improved the performance quite a bit (scrolling etc) so I'm hoping the performance with the Pixel will improve with updates eg. scrolling on Twitter.

I would say the screen is about an 8. The S21U a 9. I actually preferred the screen on the Mi 10 Pro to both, just a shame the refresh rate wasn't 120hz.

Google Pixel 2 XL
Oppo Reno 2
At work and did a speed test. On my pixel 2xl and oppo Reno 2 I usually got around 50-60meg speed. I'm getting much faster speed on this....

Search play for high brightness mode or HBM software by @flar2 an amazing kernal and software developer
I'm pretty sure that without root, you can't manually toggle HBM with a simple app. At least that was the case with previous Pixel phones, they all required root to force HBM.

There are some phone manufacturers that allow you to toggle HBM without root, but - at least up until the Pixel 5, to my knowledge - Google is not one of them.

Half my family uses the S21 Ultra and what stands out to me the most about Pixel vs. Samsung in terms of photos aren't focus or lag, it's colors. As you said, the Pixel just shoots what you see, Samsungs want to replicate a dreamworld with nicer colors than reality can offer. It's just unrealistic, and I can't enjoy it.

I did a lot of side to side comparisons and even though some Samsung pictures have greater detail or other quality, it just looks off - it doesn't look exactly like what you can see with your own eyes, whilst the pixel replicates that in a much better way.

At least that was the case with a P2, P3 and P4 - I'm still not quite sure of the P6 Pro, yesterday some of my pics were kinda botched, the HDR seemed to differ (skycolor for example, 2 pics were mighty blue as if I'd have used photoshop on them, 1 was dull as heck as if HDR didn't work at all) even though I just pressed the shutter at the same motive for a couple shots in a row - and yes, I have the most up to date camera version.

I tried that out many times, didn't work. Got the EU Pixel 6 Pro version, running build number with 210817.015.

Anyone else here in Europe that tried to update? Did it work for you? Or is it US only for now?

Got my Sunny Yellow one delivered this morning so been playing with it most of the day. Initial impressions are very good, some are listed below. Feel free to list your own.

The fingerprint scanner was a little off but after an update came in i deleted my fingerprints and re-did them and its been fine ever since. Couple of times it hasnt worked but i think thats because the screen is so smooth/slippery that my thumb slipped on the screen as it was trying to read it.

I dont have a 5g plan or even 5g signal where i am to test but so far 4g speeds are exactly the same as my pixel 2xl and oppo reno 2 ive come from.

I dont really like having the "internet" tile, id prefer having them seperate the wifi and mobile data tab. Just seems strange to add a further click to enable/disable wifi when i want to instead of just hitting the tab.

On the home screen if you make a folder then the apps slightly overhang the edge of the circle which just looks odd to me, i wish they were all within the folder.

I wish there was an option of disabling the big clock on the lock screen. I have a picture of my partner on my lock screen and when picking up the phone id rather see her than her face covered by a huge clock

The phone got very hot when setting up and transferring apps/data from my old phone but has been fine since.

I love the screen and how smooth everything flows. I dont see any issue with brightness personally. Ill see how battery life performs over the coming days

The camera hump on the back really exposes the glass to potential damage. If I were designing the thing, I'd make the entire back stick out higher than the camera glass, and fill in the space with more battery.

The rounded edge screen is pretty terrible. There are optical distortions along the sides. The radius of the edge should be reduced to around 1 mm.

A little more width on the screen would be nice. This is 71.5mm. Nexus 6 was 74, which was a lot nicer. 80 would be a dream.

A little bit of border around the screen would also be nice so you have somewhere to actually hold the thing. Function should be paramount, not form, and especially not goofy/ugly form like these have. A bit of border above the screen would make space to get the camera out of the screen instead of the ugly hole. I also hate the rounded corners on the screen. Software rounded corners are ok, because you can disable them, there is no reason to force it with paint on the inside surface of the glass.

I sold my 16/512GB S21 Ultra for the Pixel 6 Pro and I'm so underwhelmed, considering returning it.

    My 0.02:
    - Optical FP. This is very slow compared to the S21 Ultra. Did I mention it's optical?
    - Limited customisations. I can't find a way to change the ugly ass lockscreen clock???
    - No light up notification options at all besides third party apps
    - No Dolby Atmos or even any audio EQ for that matter
    - Some apps don't run at 120Hz like Telegram which is locked to 60Hz. No issue on my Samsung.
    - No option for fullscreen apps / games so you get an ugly black bar at the top. Pokemon Go for example.
    - Mobile data seems unreliable. I have to quit and reopen apps for them to work.
    - No WiFi QS toggle
    - Device can get uncomfortably warm
    - No ambient display options
    - No AoD options

This phone's offering is average at best and is riding on sheer hype peddled by reviewers.

Screen for me is fine for brightness I have high brightness mode widget and it is much brighter than the 4xl
Whoa! There's such a thing? Please, the name of it.
