General Initial impressions

I had finnicky android auto connection on my Note 20 Ultra. Think it is more of a cable issue and not a Pixel issue. Anytime the cord shifted a little bit it would cause issues. Ended up buying an AAWireless unit to convert to wireless AA and its been pretty awesome.

Had the phone a few hours now and some initial thoughts... Come from a Pixel 3 ( so missed a couple of the generations...)

It's big - lots bigger than the 3, but it's what I wanted. Seems quite tall, but not overly massive.
It feels quick and really responsive
Fingerprint scanner is ok, haven't used under the screen ones before but it seems fast and reliable enough.
Curved screen looks great
Wifi/4G speed better than the Pixel 3, haven't found 5G signal yet to test that.
Optical zoom seems to work pretty well and camera is much better than the 3. Colour rendition wise it's pretty natural.
Magic eraser is pretty cool and seems to work alright - just need to be careful not to over use it.

Overall design is nice - gets a bit covered in fingerprints though - but hopefully cloth case will sort that out.

Overall, a big step up from the 3. Much much smoother throughout. Happy so far - lets see how it is to live with!

I've double checked and it's 100% a 6 pro - they didn't send me a re-badged <insert name of more 1337 phone here>

Even tried turning it off and back on again and it's not made it rubbish. Seems to be struggling to install the latest OTA - does that warrant and RMA and compensation???!

That update takes a while - seems to be the latter half / encrypting the apps etc as it is a security update.

People that have issues look to post them. People that don't have issues just enjoy the phone and stay silent. Keep that in mind.

I must say... I do enjoy reading people's impressions of the device, but I will never understand why someone would cancel their order based on someone else's use case. Feel like I've seen that more than I should!

Don't forget that people that are active in XDA are 95% tech enthusiasts that have very specific needs. It's easy to point out very small nuisances if you know your ****, most people on this planet will be happy with any high end phone - whether it be Samsung, Google, Apple or Oppo. The average joe just want's Youtube, Spotify, Google Maps, Netflix and Whatsapp to function. Display color? Muhahaha, I have friends that don't even know what calibration means, they don't know what nits means, or HDR, or refresh rate; there are people that watch on 50 Euro televisions that have a picture quality where I get optical aids. If I'd tell one of those friends "your colors are over saturated, all the edges are bleeding in, plus your black is grey" they would react like: "What? What does that mean? This looks nice."

You can only be critical and know your ****, if you have a point of reference. If someone spends his life using one phone, let's take the Google Pixel 1 for example, and never experiences another - he will tell you it's the perfect phone. Because it is the perfect phone for him.

That's especially true for people that never spent big money on tech.

You see where I'm going with this?

People like us don't represent the majority of users, trust me on that.

I think that's a fair point. I usually get about 3 phones a year and look for minor flaws because I think I'm an enthusiast about phones. I can see flaws with the P6P but I could see flaws with my S21U and each has its own positives and negatives. I think 99% of the phone buying public wouldn't see anything wrong with either and indeed,my wife thinks I'm mad when I point out issues I have.

My 0.02:
- Optical FP. This is very slow compared to the S21 Ultra. Did I mention it's optical?
- Limited customisations. I can't find a way to change the ugly ass lockscreen clock???
- No light up notification options at all besides third party apps
- No Dolby Atmos or even any audio EQ for that matter
- Some apps don't run at 120Hz like Telegram which is locked to 60Hz. No issue on my Samsung.
- No option for fullscreen apps / games so you get an ugly black bar at the top. Pokemon Go for example.
- Mobile data seems unreliable. I have to quit and reopen apps for them to work.
- No WiFi QS toggle
- Device can get uncomfortably warm
- No ambient display options
- No AoD options

This phone's offering is average at best and is riding on sheer hype peddled by reviewers.

There is EQ settings on the phone, I managed to get it through Spotify in the settings, not sure how to get it otherwise but it's the standard Android EQ. Also, Telegram runs at 120 on mine.

Love, Love this phone. Pixel 6 pro 256g white. Coming from Note 20 Ultra which I bought because I hated the pixel 5 size and cheap feel. My pixel 3xl was a favorite. Have had Nexus and Pixel phones for years. The Samsung phone experience was just garbage compared to Pixel. I'm quite happy. Waiting for a case kinda sucks, this damn thing is really slippery in the hand.

Took me a few to figure out there's no "back button' when in apps, you swipe.... I was commenting on a facebook post and couldn't get back, lol.... of course it's something that makes sense, just wasn't used to it.

Compared to the S21 ultra is an interesting one. I had the Mi 10 Pro for 16 months before moving to the S21, and within 2 weeks regretted the move. I had the Mi set up like an old glove, it just did everything so well. I wanted the extra refresh rate camera goodies with the S21 Ultra, but they didn't compensate for the loss of user experience.

The Pixel is interesting. It's more buggy so far than the S21, the camera though for every day pics is light years ahead, simply because you shoot what you see, the S21 always lags a split second and looses focus etc. I found the Ultra ok, but never once loved it. In time I think I could bond better with the pixel.

Twitter scrolling appears to be a little sticky in the pixel, but if I can get Nova stable then I'll be much happier than I was with the Samsung overall. I guess some updates and patches will iron out the kinks as we go.

Can you compare the battery life please?

I'm in the same boat and looking to upgrade from the N20 Ultra. Can you compare the two overall especially battery life?

My P6P was delivered today. It's been awhile since I had a new phone so setting it up was a bit tedious even with the phone to phone copy. Android 12 UI isn't much different versus 11 but the Settings menu is. At some point Google needs to rethink all these crazy Settings buttons and options. After all these years it still seems to be one step above a clunky long list of #defines.

First impression is good versus my old 3XL. I tested 5G (189Mbps) which of course is much faster than 4G. I've done the initial update and still need to redo fingerprints. The screen seems much more vivid and bright versus the 3XL.

I installed Brave browser but it's crashing. A quick online search shows it's a known problem for Android 12.

The P6/P6P seems to be a good value versus the competition but I can see things have reached a tech plateau. If my phone holds up as well as the 3XL, I shouldn't need a new phone for another 5 years.

Like you I sold my 512gb S21U and in the same boat even though my phone hasn't arrived yet. I'm running Android 12 right now on my Poco F3 and my initial impressions of Material You aren't good for some of the same reasons you listed. The lockscreen clock is ugly and huge, the toggles are also huge. I wish they would have cut them in half so you could see more without having to scroll over. I like to decrease the size of the UI by changing the minimum width and now everything remains huge. It reminds me of EMUI which I hated.

I'm gonna give the 6 Pro the trial run and make a decision but at least from running Android 12 already I know what I'm getting into. The S21U was a good phone but definitely not my favorite. I actually like the Poco F3 more.

No option to disable/force 4G is a little frustrating (looks like it's carrier enforced - EE UK). 5G around where I live is a little patchy - especially inside. Takes the phone a while to drop back to 4G when 5G service is poor -especially indoors.
Not a massive issue, but the option to force would be good - especially in cases where signal is present but poor.
