Do you have one of those big SUV school bus type cars ?
I just dont see whats to be gained, that moving your head couldnt solve.
We all come here to learn. Even if he/she has a Smartcar does it really matter? Tell you the truth I wouldn't mind installing one. I think I remember reading somewhere on here that someone has it installed. You would need to have a video in on the HU. If the HU only has a video in for reverse then obviously it will only work when backing up.

Thank you so much Kouklo for your understanding and insights. Your point about extra video in makes sense. Hope others can share their installation experience with me.

Cheers

Thank you so much!

So let me give you a bit more info about my project and you may be able to help me more. I have installed an 8" Dasaita Android 8 unit on my 2016 Outlander GT. Now I am planing to install a 360 degree birdview system to this Dasaita system. Could you please help on the following 2 questions? (1) Can I simply plug the male RCA video out from the birdview system to the female RCA of existing rearview camera input of the Dasaita head unit? or an AV IN female RCA female of the Dasaita unit? (2) I found that there is not triggering wire to connect when installing the Dasaita unit, but the birdview system appears need a triggering wire to activate its rearview camera, so not sure hot to handle this issue if I would like to use the existing stock rearview camera with this birdview camera system. I updated to the latest MCU and Android OS, I remember the rearview camera app appears to support 360 degree camera systems now. Thanks so much in advance, I am just preparing myself for the installation. Here is the 360 degree birdview system I bought.

Much appreciated!

what about the manual you recived?
I once looked for this kinda system but later I didnt bought it. My understanding is all cameras are connected to the host and you just nned to connect host to your head unit. I think I saw AV IN rca on my unit, I would try on this port first. Also the host I belive you need to connect it 12V and I dont think you need to connect the "trigger " wire since you have ON/OFF switch on your remote controler.
You can try to connect it to the RCA of the rear camera. Nothing bad will happen.

you can also connect all trigger wires together, than when you hit to reverse it will turn on. I connected triger wire to the reverse rearlight (+).
its not so dificult as it might see

Thank you so much again for your detailed explanation.

1. I am sure it will work on the AV IN because I already have installed a side view and a front-view cameras controlled by a similar "host", I activate the system using a short-cut key on my steering wheel, then using a remote to switch between cameras. The drawbacks are (1) it is not automatic like the rearview camera and (2) you need to press a button or two to activate.

2. for this new project, I would like to (hope I can) integrate the new 360 system's front and 2 side cameras with the stock rearview camera. Offline test seems meet my expectation (I do not need it to be activated when turning left or right - I have yet to find the turning signal wire with constant power - pls do not laugh at me ..... did a lot of searching and asked in various forums).

I will keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers,
John

stock rearview camera is the original on your car?
you can use power cables from main connector of the head unit. there is 12V, ACC and ground. That one that goes in to the back side of the radio and maybe u use some T split conectors.

1. Yes, when I said stock rearview camera, I mean the one came with my car (from the manufacture) when I purchased it new;

2. good idea to use the power supply cables you suggested, do you have pictures handy showing the constant 12V, ACC and ground cables going into the Android head unit?

3. when you say T-split connectors, you mean for the RCA video, right?

Thx again!
John

Any news from your mounting?
I buy the same kit as you.
I ask myself how to keep the image after removing the reverse gear.
Because the image does not remain when you remove the reverse.
I think the central box of this kit keep a signal for a few seconds? or when i put ON with transmitter?
i see this box have a input reverse and output reverse (to connect on the reverse signal on the radio)
But can you confirm that it extends the signal "reverse" by a few seconds to be able to display the view 360 in forward (just after the reverse)
Can you confirm me?
(Sorry i am a belgian man and my English is not verry good :) )

Thx for writing back and sorry for my delay but mainly because I have never been able to calibrate the birdview - have been communicating with the seller but not very helpful. Maybe you can help me on the calibration.

To answer your question, yes, I followed your earlier instructions for wiring. yes, I can have the birdview on after removing the reverse gear because I used a 2 (in) to 1 (out) RCA video adapter, one input is from the backup camera and the other input is from the birdview unit, so when you put on reverse gear backup camera shows, and when you switch to other gears you will see the birdview unit's image. Hope this answered your question.

Since I am unable to calibrate the birdview, so I am not really using the full feature. Now I am using bot the stock backup camera and the birthview system (I actually use the image from the front camera only) paralell - meaning I leave the stock backup camera as is, and connected the birdview unit to the AV IN and activate it by a quick button (the voice recognition button) on my steering wheel whenever I need to see it.

Hope this is helpful, and after you resolve this issue, hopefully you can help me on calibration.

Cheers,
John

Here's what I did on mine:
1-Connected the reverse signal from the canbox, and the left & right turn signals from the car mirrors to the 360 device.
2-Connected the 360 device trigger signal to the reverse signal input in the head unit.
3-Connected the 360 device RCA output to the head unit reverse camera input.

This way, whenever I turn left, right, or put the car on reverse, the 360 view together with left, right, or rear camera views, gets automatically displayed on the head unit. When I put the car out of reverse, the 360 device replaces the rear camera view with the front camera view and stays on for a few seconds before turning off.

I can also press the flasher to get the 360 camera on anytime.

It's very simple
I'have mounted wenichen 360 degree bird view on my rover 75
Connect reverse light + on the cable rear cam.
Connect right and left turn light on cable of camera
Connect video out on the rear cam input of PX5 and the white cable on the px5 reverse cable.

When you turn on left or right or put reverse, the px5 switch the screen to show 360 bird view

I abandoned the idea of putting the box "bird 360"
the new PX6 has the plugs to connect a camera to the front!
(The px5 has the same plug but is not wired)
I managed to get the new RCA plugs and now I have an input and a power supply to connect a camera to the front!
remains more than to change the option in the canbus to activate the camera at the front just after the reverse
