Installing Pie not by OTA

Hi guys, newbie here. Can I install the Pie update by not waiting for the OTA? My carrier here in SG is very slow updating so obviously I can't wait to try the Android Pie. Can I keep all my data in the process?

Yes you can, you will need to unlock your bootloader etc and you can flash it via fastboot.

Unfortunately when you unlock the secure partition it wipes your phone so backup first.
