Only my registration is new. I have been visiting this site for years but lost/forgot my login creds. Retired and my hobbies are now beekeeping and tinkering with everything electronic. I own two OP6T and am patiently waiting for a TWRP that will work with OOS 11.
Great bunch of folks here..........

Hi, I'm T'Challa I came up with XDA when there was newer. I was more of a phone enthusiast back then with Android. In the early 2000s on xda they used to let us trade phones. I totally understand why they stopped doing it. I was on for a while after that but I just got bored with Android phones and stop flashing them and such. I think my old account got deactivated. I'm looking to maybe start back up as a hobby.

Hey there, hello all,

I'm a newcomer but also a web and api developer myself

So, after 5 years of experience (in retail and insurance businesses) I'll see if I can help, but I'm not really an expert of Linux and Android kernels

First of all, many thanks for your time and your investment

Right now, I'm trying to upgrade my Xperia XZ1 compact, using constructor's rom, after some storage issues, it was really, really, buggy (even a single music song or an alarm's snooze were sufficient to create an hard reboot)

So, after a factory reset, these issues seem resolved, but anyway, continuing my Xperia support and upgrades here should be a good idea ;)

I'm right now seeing your Great adventure of rooting the XZ1C, so, thanks for this thread, and I'll see if rooting is still possible (adb was blocked while installing TWRP, and not authorized to, but there is another option) ^^

I may have tried to relock my unlocked kernel, but without success if I remember well, but it is still seen as unlocked

Best regards,
Valentin

Call me Nepoleon,

I want to be a foss android developer (learning how to use a text editor at the moment), and maybe will also make new custom roms that can be used by most phones and lock the bootloader for better privacy.

Hey I'm super new. Every one here seems fun!

Hi all! I'm glad to lend a hand, plus take and offer suggestions .
    2
I started my smartphone journey with Android devices, specifically Sony. I've been a massive fan back when they were still Ericsson. For the most part, I've been more than happy and satisfied with the stock ROM's.

It was around the same time when I displayed major interest in software development. I had this drive in me to learn more and wanted to broaden my knowledge i.r.o computers and software. I developed this urge alongside it to always have the latest software; I needed to have to the latest Windows version, I had to use the latest version of VisualStudio.

I was running a Sony Xperia Arc at the time and I was so disappointed to find out that my device would be stuck on Android ICS. How was it possible that I couldn't get an upgrade? I started searching for answers and this is where I discovered XDA. I rooted my device but back then it was a completely different experience to what it is now. I also had to learn the hard way why the device didn't get an official update.

After that I had a few other devices which were also rooted. I had iPhones in between and eventually came back to Android in 2016. Since then I've been using a stock Sony device, stuck on Android 8. I vowed not to root it before the warranty expired and so I didn't. Today, it's lying in my drawer, still stock as ever.

I've since upgraded to the LG Wing 5G. That in itself was an experience and a half. The display is a major problem, and again, I had a flagship device that the manufacturer abandoned shortly after. I was stuck on Android 10 but that was the least of my problems. The device became unusable.

A couple of months later, I bought the Razer Phone 2. Sure it was a downgrade in some ways, but spec wise it was on par with the Wing. Except 5G. But Razer left us on Android 9.

My journey back to XDA would soon follow. I managed to flash to LOS 18. But that brought bugs with it. I lurked around in the forums a little more and found that there's a perfectly working build of Pixel Experience for RP2. And it's Android 12!

The bottom line of my story is that I would not be able to empower myself or even have feedback on my questions and thoughts were it not for XDA. It has been, still is, and always will be the go to place for anything related to mobile devices.

Hello... I'm Kristine. To be honest, I came across this site on accident a little while back. To call myself technologically behind is an understatement. So, needless to say, I spend a lot of time googling when my phone or computer does something I don't understand. The night I came across this site, I got stuck and read for over 5 hours. About everything. Since, I always stop to read what information, tips, and tricks I can get my hands on. I'm actually starting to understand a bit more. So thank you to all who post on here. I'm slowly coming into the correct decade🤣🤣

More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.

Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.

But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!

Also, be sure to spend some time filling out your profile:

And also adding what phones you have to your inventory:

:cowboy: thanks and welcome. I'm one of the guys in charge and my DMs are always open if you ever want to chat or even complain.

Go ahead and make a new thread in this forum instead of replying to this post.

Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)

    HI you guys are awesome

Hi. I'm a french CS engineer and a Debian addict.

I systematically root all my phones and have a specialization in tuning the iptables to not talk to the GAFAMs. Rooted phones so far : Huawei codenames HAM, NEML51, old samsung phones, a couple of Wiko phones.

I've been following XDA-developers for a decade and decide now to onboard :
    * Short-term goal : get some help on a very edge case involving dm-verity and kali nethunter on Nexus5X (bullhead)
    * Long-term goal : wait patiently for the day when a full debian phone / ubuntu touch will be available at a relatively low price, and help all along

Very interested in Android technology and rooting.. that being said I used to be able to root a Android phone fairly easily but this was 10 years ago but now it has become more difficult for me
