Hi XDA!
I'm a tinkerer. I work with a lot of electronic platforms but never really took a look at the phone and it's OS. Being almost completely unfamiliar with Linux and having some old phones sitting in a drawer; I figured why not let's do this. This forum is so at the center of everything phone, with all google roads leading to this path. I also like the people here and it's a pleasure to say Hello World to you all. I want to give a shout out to anyone who has contributed to the site. I'm used posts that worked and did not work all lead to a fantastic learning experience. Learning Odin was a game changer. Exploring TWRP just amazing. Finally seeing how the partitions are laid out on a phone. How to make them. Loading in a ROM. There is so much to explore. Thanks for having me, I'll try to help out any way I can.

I am new as i created my first account in xda forum but i searched google several time for custom roms and it appeared with xda. So from a recent past i have known xda as a developer's platform.

Hello, I am an ubuntu and manjaro linux user. I tinker with pi's and odroids for video security and arduinos for keypad and IR door locks. I've read the forums before for help with an ASUS transformer prime tablet and now for trying to recover an Nvidia shield pro.. needing more help, so joined to post. Thanks.

I was told this is the place to be and so here I am. I’m new to Linux which led to unlocking boot loader and changing OS on a pixel 3a xl. I want to do more and experience more with software on computers and phones.

I used to go to the "xda-developers.com" forum a lot and only recently registered for an account. Here, I gained a lot, not only learned knowledge, but also solved some practical problems.
Initially searching for flashing resources, I came here by accident. At present, I have 3rd generations Kindle HDX7 and HDX8.9 each, and I have a little experience in operating practice.
So, I also want to help those in need as much as I can.

I am tired of companies getting between me and my technology. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon can suck a duck. My goal is to remove these big tech viruses from my electronics. My data belongs to me, and nobody else.

I have a Allwinner T3 K2001n-ndw headunit . Its Android 7.1.1 . I need the default or update firmware for the unit .
Some of the APK files disappeared as well as some of the default apps .
Help will be appreciated to get the unit to its normal state

Well, I'm a "Linux" and "opensource" technology fan.
Even if I consider myself as an eternal newbee, I try to promote the world of opensource solutions to the general public.
I'm doing a lot of installations of Linux distributions (Ubuntu / Xubuntu / Linux Mint) on PCs to people around me. I do the same (when I'm able to) on smartphones and tablets by installing LineageOS & /e/OS ROMs, giving them a second life!
This website has been a great help to me on many occasions.
I'm also an active member of Ubuntu Touch/UBports community.
I don't have any technical computing knowledge and I'm not a developer at all, but I like to follow all those exciting projects.
I'm pretty happy now to be member of the XDA forum community.

Sick, sick, SICK of bloatware, and not having complete control over my Android. It's getting harder and harder just to keep apps disabled and in forced stop mode since switching to a Samsung. I can't take away permissions of Samsuung and Google apps to track my location, body sensors, microphone, camera...blah, blah blah!
I'm very security and privacy conscious.
I'm sick of Google, Samsung, Facebook, my cellular carrier, Microsoft... ALL OF THEM forcing and tricking me into allowing them to track me and collect data on me. My life is none of their business!
I'm in the process of figuring out Linux and I've finally made the decision to root one of my old phones before doing the same with my current phone. That's why I'm here. I'm going to have a LOT questions. So thank you for being here and thank you in advance for helping me figure all of this out!

17Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)1615More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.
Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.
But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!

I used to read alot here when i was 10 - 15 but I think i switched to iOs during 2010s and i never really had my phone in the center of my occupations so i bought some macbook & iphone and i started to learn code. (mostly js)
I would be really happy to help users here, if i can, and discuss about my new device. 2020s seems to be redditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t
Thank you for everything I have read here over the last years!5My story? I'm not paying over $150 for a phone anymore. I am sick and tired of companies bricking phones and taking my cash when they're perfectly usable and up to spec. I registered a few minutes ago as I find this forum to be great for mainly the old(er) Samsung devices I buy. You flash a custom ROM on one of those old babies and you have yourself a new phone. My next plan to is to hunt down a Note 7, stick a safer S7 edge battery in it (as it's compatible) and have fun.
