Hello everyone I have just started my project to acquire and use a de-Googled phone. The first mistake I made was to buy a phone I thought was on the list of supported Lineage OS devices. Then finding it is not yet supported I set it aside for future use since it is common, a Motorola G Play (2021) and can expect support. I have now found a local used Motorola g5 Plus that is in good shape and started to get the software from the Lineage OS site. But GREAT DISappointment ensued when the model numbers listed for the phone run only in different series than that which the phone displays!
Namely I have what appears to be an "in betweenie" with regard to LineageOS supported releases! Here's all I could find on their sites.
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/cedric/ shows only
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/montana/ shows only BUT MY PHIONE IS pottter XT1787
Well, I'm a "Linux" and "opensource" technology fan.
Even if I consider myself as an eternal newbee, I try to promote the world of opensource solutions to the general public.
I'm doing a lot of installations of Linux distributions (Ubuntu / Xubuntu / Linux Mint) on PCs to people around me. I do the same (when I'm able to) on smartphones and tablets by installing LineageOS & /e/OS ROMs, giving them a second life!
This website has been a great help to me on many occasions.
I'm also an active member of Ubuntu Touch/UBports community.
I don't have any technical computing knowledge and I'm not a developer at all, but I like to follow all those exciting projects.
I'm pretty happy now to be member of the XDA forum community.

Hello to everyone......
I am jack of all trades but a master of none....but I do try and research things but I forge ahead with things ie...plus windows and Linux, phones and tablets..The Internet is a wonderful source of information, which should be free to all. many thanks!
Hi. I am new at XDA. I am very happy that i stumbled around this good community. I like to experiment around with phones
So now about me.
I am Franzi, and i am from Austria.
I use a Samsung Galaxy A32 (A325F) as my daily driver, which is rooted and runs the normal firmware, probably changing to PixelExperienceGSI in around a week or so.
If anyone also wants to change their OS to PixelExperience on their A32, here are some links that will help you:
PixelExperience GSI: https://github.com/ponces/treble_build_pe/releases
Sick, sick, SICK of bloatware, and not having complete control over my Android. It's getting harder and harder just to keep apps disabled and in forced stop mode since switching to a Samsung. I can't take away permissions of Samsuung and Google apps to track my location, body sensors, microphone, camera...blah, blah blah!
I'm very security and privacy conscious.
I'm sick of Google, Samsung, Facebook, my cellular carrier, Microsoft... ALL OF THEM forcing and tricking me into allowing them to track me and collect data on me. My life is none of their business!
I'm in the process of figuring out Linux and I've finally made the decision to root one of my old phones before doing the same with my current phone. That's why I'm here. I'm going to have a LOT questions. So thank you for being here and thank you in advance for helping me figure all of this out!
