I have a lot of old hardware on which I am not willing to give up. In this moment I was struggling on installing firefox on an T560 Tablet - I read this forum - did a few steps and it is now in a state where I should be able to install current apps. I am convinced this is one of the forums which will outlast a lot of other internet sites. Basically I want to thank everybody of you for your work - together we are making a change! Thanks for this

Hello, I'm an idiot who bricked a rooted M53 into bootloop by trying to flash TWRP.

Already searched the yellow message in all google results including forums, reddit and youtube, but all solutions include going to recovery mode, that disappeared, or reflashing the firmware (the download mode doesn't show progress bar anymore and Odin says it failed, everytime).

Besides "set warranty bit : vbmeta", the charging icon changed, hiding the numbers as you can see in the second picture.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I'm not really new to xda-developers, it's just been quite a few years.

I enjoyed rooting my phones or loading custom code, which I may try to do again but right now I'm trying to bring my watch back to life.

Hey there, I'm Bill Otto, and I've been over the moon about my involvement in Aerospace Projects and Commercial Space since 2011. I've always had this insatiable curiosity to understand how things work, you know? My journey began on the technical side, but as fate would have it, I stumbled upon my true love for writing and copywriting. Talk about a plot twist, right?

As an engineer by trade, I've got the inside scoop on the lingo and the nitty-gritty details about the products and services I write about. It's like I've got a backstage pass to the coolest show in town!

But wait, there's more! I've been a bonafide audio and video recording aficionado since the groovy 1970s. And let me tell you, one of my all-time favorites has to be the VHS format. I mean, it's the creme de la creme of analog recording formats with the highest resolution out there. To me, VHS is like the Encyclopedia Britannica of the world—and that's no exaggeration!

So that's me in a nutshell—part engineer, part wordsmith, and a whole lot of passion for all things tech!

Hi there, I learned how to root android about 15 years ago on xda and then was reading here often. In the last years I had nothing to do with android modding and so on, so I didn't visit xda and almost forgot about the forum. Since I got another android device and saw, that there was root available, I got in touch here again. And as I hasn't been very careful, I ended up making an account posting my first problem here :p

Is this the same xda that used to be there? I mean I cant find any of the old threads. I once used to be regular here and last time I was here I was looking for a file explorer app and ACR(auto call record) app that worked stupendously on my htc touch II and Asus P835. Lol, that how long its been. Now I cant find neither the old threads(purged?) nor my old user id(slowpoison).

Still the same one, but wearing a fancy new shirt :cowboy: Search isn't in its best shape right now so you might try searching with your fav search engine for "XDA [search query]". You're likely talking about this thread: [App][Beta] ACR – Auto Call Recorder – Version 1.2.4
I'm using the BCR Magisk module myself. As for file explorers, I guess there's one on here to rule them all: MiXPlorer. Anyway, welcome back and have a great time! If you would like us to retrieve your old account, slowpoison, drop me a PM. Please try a password reset first.

Hi Everyone
I have been installing my first custom ROM on a MI4, lineage. still have the phone.
I am NO developer but like playing around and testing ROMS, currently on my Redmi Note8, old but still very usable. MIUI releases took too long and it is way too bloated so now I am on my 2nd ROM. 1st Derpfest which did not work so great and currently on Arrow OS and much better. Learning all the time

Greetings, I go by Shinra, or variations thereof.

I'm "new" in that I never felt the need to make an account, but have read through the forums for a long time, last I recall being to mod my Redmi 5 back in I think 2020 or so.
I guess that still makes me relatively new haha

I've been involved with tech for the majority of my life, and been programming for and manipulating it since about 2016.
What finally dragged me out of hiding is the absolute drag it has been to try and get a MiUI default-like camera to work on my new phone, I would say I'll spare you the details but I need all the info I can get so I'll leave info at the bottom of this post.

My main thing in the tech business is programming broadly along with some design and other things for regular desktop computers, this is also where I currently find my work.
Happy to help out where I can, and I'm sure I'll find plenty of help in this community myself.

    Cheers

For those interested in my current troubles, got myself LineageOS 20 + MicroG for my new Redmi Note 10 Pro,
and getting a working port of the Miui camera has been a real slog, feel free to give me pointers!
I'll be sure to make a post if I figure it out.

EDIT: you'd expect a programmer to be able to type, alas I cannot.

Can not say if I am new to XDA but surely this account is. I still remember when rooting phone was easy and we could do a lot with all different XDA developer. Back once again to get interested in something left long behind.

    Hello all,
I am a resident of Germany. I am not a developer ... I am just a user ... came here because I decided to install Lineage OS on my Motorola Moto G6 plus ... found the xda thread: [OFFICIAL] LineageOS for Moto G6 Plus - which really helped me to succeed, as a complete newbie.
This is great and I am so happy :) Thanks to all!

    Hi,
Like so many others I see in this thread, I 1st joined XDA about 16-18 years ago when phones were going thru constant change.
Then got on with other career related activity.

XDA back then was fantastic for learning, getting good advice, and, helping others when able.

So last week I plunged back into XDA with a question but after several days got no responses but also was struggling to even find what I had posted (its title started ‘Huawei P30 Pro’). Sadly I made a mistake and tried to repost it in a different topic area but ended up with it duplicated which earned me a justified rebuke by a moderator (a sad result for my 1st go back in the community).

Am working thru the XDA app to try to grasp the processes but I sure need help in how I go about finding my own prior posts. Am not finding that an easy thing to do. Most forums I am in have very easy ways to list your prior posts.

Anyway while off to a shaky start, am in no doubt what a great community XDA contains and am hoping to be able to learn and even contribute again.

Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)

    HI you guys are awesome
    23
More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.

Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.

But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!

Also, be sure to spend some time filling out your profile:

And also adding what phones you have to your inventory:

:cowboy: thanks and welcome. I'm one of the guys in charge and my DMs are always open if you ever want to chat or even complain.

Go ahead and make a new thread in this forum instead of replying to this post.

Hello everyone, i'm back here after a long, long time

I used to read alot here when i was 10 - 15 but I think i switched to iOs during 2010s and i never really had my phone in the center of my occupations so i bought some macbook & iphone and i started to learn code. (mostly js)

I would be really happy to help users here, if i can, and discuss about my new device. ;) 2020s seems to be redditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t

Thank you for everything I have read here over the last years!

Hi. I'm a french CS engineer and a Debian addict.

I systematically root all my phones and have a specialization in tuning the iptables to not talk to the GAFAMs. Rooted phones so far : Huawei codenames HAM, NEML51, old samsung phones, a couple of Wiko phones.

I've been following XDA-developers for a decade and decide now to onboard :
    * Short-term goal : get some help on a very edge case involving dm-verity and kali nethunter on Nexus5X (bullhead)
    * Long-term goal : wait patiently for the day when a full debian phone / ubuntu touch will be available at a relatively low price, and help all along
