37 year old medical professional. 5 years ago our technology never crossed my mind and senselessly used computers, smart tv’s and game consoles like I did my love affairs, (unchecked)

After being robbed of my privacy, sanity and data from a ruthless network intrusion, I realized this stuff was not just in action movies, and not only happened to rogue governments and corrupt regimes.

(I also learned that computers really don’t make that cool “deee-heeeedeee” sound like the MOVIES when you are intensely updating/downloading software)

I taught myself Linux the best I could, read your guys book, and found that back box was most friendly… And in a freak accident I overwrote my entire partition when reinstalling back box onto my MacBook. So ever since then I called it Macinbox

Hello, my name is Júlio, I'm not too young or too old, I work with maintenance of electronic devices and I'm studying in the hope that someday someone will call me a systems developer, I discovered the site a short time ago, looking for a solution for an Asus tablet that does not access the Play Store and does not install anything, I found a lot here about it and soon I wrote, I am fascinated by this area and I know that you are very good at what you do, I know that I will learn a lot from you all. Hope I can help too...

HI you guys are awesome
Hi, it's my pleasure to be here, I'm not too young or too old to be here and I love modding and surfing the web for new things that will make users comfortable to make use of their devices, I'm not perfect and I will appreciate it greatly when ideals and thoughts are shared across the web for better quality development, I've been working with Linux and pydroid Apps for more about 1 year and I will like to improve with more. Thanks.

Hi there,
I've worked in the computer industry for about 20 years and retired a few years ago. I've done a bit with various operating systems but mostly handled specific Windows-based software. I'm now using Android devices, phone and tablet. I'm just starting to figure out what I can do in Android so decided to become a XDA member. I've looked at some of the forums here over the yyears and figured it was time to join. I'm looking forward to learning new things and what my Android devices can do. Thanks

I once was helped by help from your community to root my phone..

I previously sold phones & had done a course on phone repairs which drew me on to the deep things about phones,

the resolving of certain issues about phones, & fully understanding the full power of android phones.

I found your website deep.. in knowledge & merely want to learn about my android phone as much as I can.. & see where it takes me.

I crave knowledge..

New Member Cgiff here. I’m a retired test engineer still dabbling in microcontrollers. I wanted to uses an inexpensive fire tablet as to run browser based interfaces to some of my wifi enabled hardware projects. Getting rid of the Amazon bloat, enabling Google play to get the chrome browser was my objective. I discovered this forum kind of by accident but I must say it certainly looks to be a great resource. The toolbox certainly helped Make the fire tablet more Android like with relative ease.

Hi I'm Tab. I am a noob when it comes to all this but I love to learn. I'm specifically interested in custom roms/recovery for tablets and phones. Please be patient with me. I'm hoping to soon have a story to tell:cowboy:. I have a Samsung galaxy tab A Sm-t517p and want to put twrp on it and root it, and eventually a custom kernel. I haven't found anything for my specific model and hope to find some answers here. Thanks!

Hi all! My name is Piergiorgio (short: Pg) , from Genoa, Italy. Even though I used to work in IT, I'm a noob when it comes to cellphones, and even worse with rooting, ROMS etc.
Essentyally I'll be looking for advice in order to prolonge the life of my old cell devices, which I find - especially due to their size - much more practical than the modern, fast but bulky and cumbersome, phones.

Thanks in advance for your patience and support!

Hi all. I spent some time developing for old Toshiba AC100 netbook long time ago. Nowadays I usually use existing builds for different devices. I would like to thank all developers for their efforts! :)

    HI you guys are awesome

Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)

More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.

Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.

But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!

Also, be sure to spend some time filling out your profile:

And also adding what phones you have to your inventory:

:cowboy: thanks and welcome. I'm one of the guys in charge and my DMs are always open if you ever want to chat or even complain.

Go ahead and make a new thread in this forum instead of replying to this post.

Hello everyone, i'm back here after a long, long time

I used to read alot here when i was 10 - 15 but I think i switched to iOs during 2010s and i never really had my phone in the center of my occupations so i bought some macbook & iphone and i started to learn code. (mostly js)

I would be really happy to help users here, if i can, and discuss about my new device. ;) 2020s seems to be redditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t

Thank you for everything I have read here over the last years!

Hi. I'm a french CS engineer and a Debian addict.

I systematically root all my phones and have a specialization in tuning the iptables to not talk to the GAFAMs. Rooted phones so far : Huawei codenames HAM, NEML51, old samsung phones, a couple of Wiko phones.

I've been following XDA-developers for a decade and decide now to onboard :
    * Short-term goal : get some help on a very edge case involving dm-verity and kali nethunter on Nexus5X (bullhead)
    * Long-term goal : wait patiently for the day when a full debian phone / ubuntu touch will be available at a relatively low price, and help all along
