I hate the "blob" (weebles) look of Android emojis and for the past few months was running an iOS 9.1 emoji set for Kitkat and Lollipop. But now I'm on Marshmallow ROM. So, found this iOS 9.1 emoji set (TWRP flashable zip) for Marshmallow ROMs and works well even on Swype keyboard:

Running it now on Resurrection Remix (Marshmallow) on my XT1225. Of course it will work with all Quarks.

Hello, I've found a way to replace the emoji's of your device with the one from Apple's iOS 9.1

The only thing you need to do is flash the zip below in your recovery:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/317fcgt1ofk0t63/iOS 9.1 Emoji for MM - SandeR.zip?dl=0

What does this zip do?

This zip replace the .ttf file in the /system/fonts directory and replaces it with the one inside my zip. The one inside my zip contains the iOS 9.1 Emoji's so from now on your device will see the Emoji's as iOS Emoji's

Difference between emoji switcher and this

Emoji Switcher (app) will change your emoji's but they will be very tiny when you use them and if you flash this zip the emoji's will not be very tiny

ROOT IS REQUIRED TO USE THIS MOD

So here's a question, and it's somewhat related. I've flashed iOS emojis in the past, and it works perfectly when I get emojis in SMS or MMS messages. I've had friends with iPhones send me all of the new ones, and it works great. However, when I see emojis on Facebook, they are only partially fixed. I can see some emojis that other Android users can't, but skin tones specifically are usually messed up. For example, if someone uses a white skinned thumbs up emoji, I'll see an uncolored thumbs up with a white skin colored square next to it. Is this a Facebook thing that they would need to fix? And if so, why can I see some emojis that unmodded Android users can't?

People have reported when they didn't have all the emojis that Apple users have they get messages with black boxes with X where the emoji is.

Usually all the main texting apps try to keep up with Apple's emojis, so I don't know how widespread missing emojis are. But I've heard reports, and those are two above.

With this set installed, you will see all the iPhone style emojis, at least as of iOS 9.1. I have not seens any iOS 10 emoji packs for Android.

But mostly I use this because the emojis are more clear representations. I hate the blob/weebles/melted marshmallow appearance of the Android emojis. With this iOS emoji set, a wink is a wink.

BUT if you send a message with an emoji, Android recipients without this emoji set installed will still see their own Android blobs. You can't help that. You are only responsible for your own phone. :)

I don't know the answer to the Facebook issue.

Right. The black box with the x is what my friends with unmodded, older Android phones see both on Facebook and in SMS/MMS when they look at a newer iOS emoji. When I flash a newer emoji ttf (either iOS 9.1 or one from a Nougat Nexus factory image), I can see all emojis in SMS/MMS, and I can also see all of the emojis in Facebook. However, the Facebook implementation isn't perfect, as I described above, even though it obviously relies on this file, as evidenced by my friends' experiences. It's weird. I dunno.
