Is 2init a recovery for defy?

is 2nd init same as recovery??
I wish to install different rom on my defy..
Read a post that 2nd init is required to switch roms.
What about clock work mod then??
Is it not required???

Yes you need 2nd init to install CM7 or MIUI & it includes the CWM recovery.
