Generally firstly korean versions get update than int. versions get the updates. It looks like fake but I hope we get the update.

Btw if this update really exist the version number shouldn't be v40 should be v3X(except v30, exmple v35a for 5.1.1 update. if we get android m update it should be v40X)

Your aproach make sense but on the article they stated information came from Korea. From now we have to wait and see

It's normal that the baseband is the same as 5.0.2?

They both based on LP maybe possible but I am not sure

Yes it's an old phone but we shouldn't miss the point that it's still a very powerful phone and has a good hardware.

In screenshots.it looks like they would gonna update our G2 to 5.1.1 with Full LG g4 UI as well as our 5.0.2 with g3 UI.i am sure LG would gonna provide us both LP and android M updates besides our chipset is enough powerful to handle android M easily. :)

I'll believe it when I see it. My Canadian g2 is still stuck on 4.4.2. I have to pick between good battery life and camera, or up to date, nice looking software on my nexus 4.

i hope not
if we get 5.1.1 we will not receive Android m

What makes you say that? First of all the update to 5.1.1 isnt a drastic overhaul and is needed to fix bugs that are currently present in 5.0. An android M update would require more work than the 5.1.1 update.
The only reasons we probably won't get android m are:
1. Too much work to update to M because of drastic changes
2. They could have decided to just leave the LG g2 with lollipop, which is fair given the 2 year period since release. Most phones don't get updates after a 2 year period. Except for nexus.

They should rather skip Android Lollipop 5.1.x and go straight to Android M IMHO.

Doing a 5.1.x release for the LG G2 is a waste of time when Android M is already around the corner.

At the time they will release a 5.1.x update, it is probably going to be outdated already because Android M will already be available...

So, LG, if you are reading this, please update the LG G2 directly to Android M instead. That woud be much better.

It looks as if if our Canadian variant is abandoned permanently on 4.4.2 with no plans to update it, so I doubt any of them will get m

I dont think that the canadian variant is only the fault of LG. The telecom providers don't even know when their own devices are getting updated and cant provide valid information so we should blame both or none.
Btw if this is true then it will be the v40 update. I didn't knew any other LG device yet which got updated higher then v30(2 android version upgrades) ofcourse excluding nexus series.

Such an ironic situation to any flagship couldn't get more than two updates.. I hope it comes to end with this update policy

They are doing 5.1.1 because Lollipop is the last major update for this phone (I'm pretty sure), so they are trying to polish it as much as possible. Android M will come after 2 years since launch, so don't wait for it (target is G3 and G4). I think it's fair from LG for LG G2 users and still better than leave it on 5.0.2.

Of course 5.1.1 would be better than nothing and would definitely be appreciated.

But if you consider how long it took LG to release 5.0.2 for the D802 then it might be quite likely that it also (unfortunately) will take them quite long to release 5.1.1.

And by that time Android M might already have been released. So why not go for Android M directly instead of releasing an update which will already be outdated when it is being released?

The LG G2 still is such a modern and powerful device.

It might be almost two years "old", but it's way better than a lot of other current devices. Look at all those Snapdragon 410 smartphones which are coming out lately and which mostly only have 1 GB RAM. The LG G2 with it's Snapdragon 800 and it's 2 GB RAM easily runs circles around them.

Let's face it, the G2 doesn't even have to hide from a G3 or G4. It still is easily competitive.

Seeing a Moto G get Android M while the G2 is being left out only because of this two-year-update-cycle BS would be ridiculous.

There is absolutely no excuse why the G2 could not get Android M, at least from a hardware perspective.

As well as from any other perspective...

In this day and age where IT security is so important, it simply is not funny when devices are left alone with outdated operating systems which do not get security updates...

So, let's hope that LG will provide Android M and many updates beyond that for the LG G2.

It should be the norm, not the exception.
