Is an Android Oreo 8.1 ROM being planned for Moto e4?

Ok. How were the high-end graphics games?
I'm a bit too old for games on a phone, lol. But if you need super performance, mega battery, and all that, maybe a budget phone isn't what you're looking for. Sounds like you need a great mid range, or a flagship. Not a entry level budget phone.

But I never get the issues you described. No dropped calls, no bad reception, battery lasts most of the day with moderate usage.
All on stock. Rooted of course. Xposed gravitybox, and greenify and amplify for helpers.

Oh. Nice.
Yeah, I'm on Sprint, and I wanted a new phone, but I couldn't afford it, but Metro's deal caught my eye. So I wanted to see what free phone I could get, though they're not budget phones, and out of the ones on the online list, the e4 looked more promising to Oreo support in ROMs than the others, so... yeah, that's why I've been keeping my eye on this forum.
And from what carrier did you buy your e4?

Mine is from Virgin mobile (sprint mvno). Boost has them for like $39. You can get them at Walmart for like $20
Sprint has them too
By the way, when you get a "free" phone from metro, if you're not already a customer, your gonna pay 60-80 dollars. For first month of service and activation and whatnot.
All of the free phones are going to be budget devices. But as far as budget phones go, this is one of the best out there.
It might get Oreo over the next few months, hard to tell at this point.

You're talking the $60 plan with hotspot?
I was also wondering if the Metro variant was really Qualcomm-powered, and will work with one of the existing Nougat ROMs?

Ok. I heard from recent MetroPCS customers that the battery isn't the best, calls get hung up (and reception isn't good), and multitasking isn't great, there can be some network issues, and unfortunately, a bit more here.
If I were to buy the phone, and flash a one of the Nougat ROMs available, how would they improve the phone, concerning these problems found on the stock ROM? And how good was the gameplay for AR games like Pokemon Go, and graphic-demanding games, like Asphalt 8?
It's a budget phone. It is what it is. I can say from experience, battery life and multitasking are just fine. Reception depends on location. Metro has a pretty big network, and they merged with t mobile.
It's one of the best budget devices around.
I also own the E4. Actually a pair: an unlocked XT1768 and a Verizon only XT1767 purchased at Walmart for $40 USD. Also have a pair of unlocked G4 Play XT1607s which is an older but similar design. All have decent battery life which comes a no surprise given modest hardware specs. No issues with CDMA in the 800+ mile radius of normal travel. Haven't used GSM enough to draw any conclusions other than is works on the XT1607/XT1768. WiFi and BT radios are fine. I don't game but expect the experience would be so-so given weak GPU. The E4 is clearly a superior device except for exterior shell if you care about naked appearance; I always use a case. Most importantly the GPS is excellent on the E4 which was the primary driver for moving away from G4P which suffers from an uncorrectable design defect. Also like the finger print sensor and snappier response which I can't fully explain given similar (albeit not identical) hardware.

Bottom line: Moto E4 is probably the best 'budget' phone on the market today.

Many metro users are happily using the existing ROMs. Yes it's Qualcomm.
On a side note, I noticed you said Pokemon go. I saw a user saying that they had trouble connecting to a Pokemon go plus device with this phone. I don't use anything like that, but thought it might interest you.

Nah, I don't care to buy those, I just play the game.
When I asked you about the existing ROMs, I mean the custom ROMs on this forum, just for clarification..?
