I don't have a G3 (d855) yet (I have one ordered) and decided to do some reading up on the device beforehand.
I gathered that bump is an exploit used to boot non-signed boot images enabled by LG implementing signature checking badly. (I've read they used a symmetric cipher which by their very nature unusable for signatures. ) Anyway, I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845 where it says that bump is KK bootloader exploit. (And I presume got fixed in the LP booloader).
However, in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396 they require you to have LP stock and get you a bump'd TWRP. Or does it also flash the KK aboot.img, it's just not mentioned in the guide?
So my question: Is bump a KK or LP bootloader exploit?
Reason for asking is that I am planning to use CM 12.1 on the device, and I like to understand as much as possible about my options before proceeding with messing with the device. If bump was working on LP bootloaders too, I guess it would make sense to get the OTA first for LP as it updates other partitions as well, which might bring some small improvements. (?)
