Is BusyBox Needed?

I have stock Pie and rooted with Magisk.

I have BusyBox (which I think I installed myself - after reading somewhere I needed it). But is it really necessary? What is the function of BusyBox? Can I delete it without any issues?

You can delete it. It's a set of tools utilized by some root applications.
