Is it really necessary to have a screen protector?

I'll try one more alternative before I go for a whitestone. The Galaxy flip case is ok, but it's got really scratched, really quickly. That's just in and out of pockets. I find the flip case frustrating, it's just in the way all the time.

I haven't had a screen protector for about 2 months now, still not 1 scratch. I'm sure its more a question on how clumsy you are? Do you drop your device often or put your phone in the same pocket with keys/other sharp objects? I do not, so I don't see the need for one. And if the screen cracks if it is ever dropped SquareTrade has me covered.

As many have mentioned, due to the curved screen, it makes it nearly impossible to have those films/TP to fully stick to the curved edges.

My reason to applying one on is I'm more worried for scratches than the screen shatter. I must've dropped my phone 3 times total in as many years I've owned a smartphone. Dropping is not my concern.

To answer the question, no! It's not necessary to put one on on the Note 8.

I baby my phones as if each one is my newborn.

I purchased a Whitestone Dome before I got my phone, simply because I don't want to risk smashing a £900 phone. That's just me though- however on my S7Edge before, i ended up getting rid of my protector when i couldn't find a decent glass one and I had zero scratches!

I have my note 8 for a few weeks now. I didn't spotted any scratch yet. But for safety, I recommend an 1 dollar screenprotector from aliexpress.

I have never had a screen protector as I feel it ruins the experience. I do take extra care of my phones (dedicated pocket, decent case etc) and NEVER put it face down.. I cannot understand how anyone would put a phone face down on a table. Blows my mind.
Here, here!

Yes, case friendly Skinomi via Amazon. I've doodled, scrolled Facebook and captured images with the S-Pen with very little to no resistance.

Yes Skinomi makes a really nice screen protector. I had the matte finish on my S7E. It wrapped the curved edges nicely. Never peeled, had the feel of vinyl type texture. No finger prints, un scratchable and almost frictionless resistance. It was probably the best thing about that crappy pink lined phone.

I think that micro scratches are not the "glass" screen itself. It's the actual oleophobic layer that we see is scratched.
A scratch is a scratch, lol.

Well I finally was able to score some Skinomi Note 8 case friendly protectors. The feel with the s pen after the 24 hour cure time ,is very close to pencil on paper. There is a slight orange peel look ,but can only see it in the light. Also seems a little more of a fingerprints magnet than the glass. Overall not bad at all, and the install was a breeze. I will run it for a little bit and see, but thanks again for the recommendation, I never would have thought to try non glass with the s pen.

Try the matte finish one. No glare and no finger prints. Same rubbery vinyl feel. Very nice.

Bought the Note 8 for both my father and I and we've both dropped our phones many times however, if you look at my screen vs his (I've had a screen protector on my Note 8 since day one) you can see faint scratches on his screen along with a small nick where he dropped his phone face first onto some decorative rocks by the front of our house. I always keep the phone in my pocket along with keys, coins and other things I may have that are potential screen destroyers so case and screen protector has been a habit for me. If you plan on reselling your phone and want to keep it's value then a screen protector and case are good options.

Personal recommendation for Note 8 screen protector

I have been using this particular brand (Benks) tempered glass screen protector which i bought from china website on my Samsung Note 8 for almost 9 months, and my phone dropped multiple times on the floor (mainly tile and occasionally stone) with no problem at all although the tempered glass did cracked a little especially on the sides, but its still holding on super well, screen sensitivity is still fine for me, and the best thing is u can reapply the screen protector if u did not align it well on the first attempt, the sort of double-sided tape glue on the edges adhere well unless ur screen is dirty during the first apply causing it to pick up all the dust then it might not adhere to the screen anymore. some photos to show how the screen protector looks like on my phone and my exact screen without it, highly recommend it as i have been following threads on xda regarding note 8 screen protector yet it doesnt seem to have much solution yet!
