Wow that's poop luck. These phones now days definitely fragile as hell. Glass does feel better, but at what cost? I rather have plastic if it means less fragile. I seriously think they deliberately make them this way. That way we get nickel and dimed for repairs.

You said screen protector popped off. Which one was that? So I know never to buy that one. I've had worst hits then you and no cracks.

Florida unfortunately.
You look at the specs of S9+ ? Seems like basically a Note 8. Don't waste your money and wait few months for Note 9. Your a brave soul to go naked.
He's on Jump on demand I think, like I used to be. I used to change 3 times a year with the Mrs . But left that program after they increased the fees. Basically they are wanting down payments that one doesn't get back for high end devices. Wasn't like that before.

I still used to use a case however, as I didn't want to pay another fee for insurance. Worked well for me at the time.

Side note your right screw insurance. I am getting rid of it soon. I keep preaching to yall tech21. I abuse note 8 like a bill cosby victim tech21 all the time, but without lawsuits.

Why would I wait? I'll just get the Note 9 when it comes out too. I just get whatever is the most new.

I have a Whitestone screen protector and pelican case on my 8. Just broke the damned screen.
Well will never buy whitestone. Heard way to many cracked and pealed with that screen protector. Don't know to much about your case. I would be pretty pissed if I was you.

My phone was in covers and didn't know. Remade my bed and phone blasted the wall. Not a scratch or crack here. I feel bad for you bro :( I literally don't care if my phone crashes to ground or if something hits my screen. That's due to a trusted case and screen protector aka tech21.

It would be nice to know how it fell, what it hit, and where the impact on the phone was. If the corner/edge of the phone hit tile, for example, it would likely crack the screen but that would of course be the fault of the pelican case, not the glass protector.

I've always put a protector on my previous phones but I'm using my Note 8 without a screen protector. Like you, I'm always very careful with my phone and never drop it. The pocket that I put my phone in only contains my phone; I never put loose change or key in there. My Spigen Slim Armor case protects most of the phone and keeps the screen off the table surface if I do put it face down. With all of the issues people have had with curved tempered glass screen protectors, it just seems like more hassle than it's worth. The only one I'd get is the Whitestone Dome but that costs $60 here. Bit pricey.
Mate, just want to ask, do you have (micro)scratches after few month of using note witouth protection on screen? I'm loosing my nerves with some Panzer protective glass...it is terrable (worst sensitivity ever, seeing myself in it like in mirror, dot matrix visable ect).

I have zero scratches on this one, as the other guy posted, don't put it in a pocket with keys or change, I also clean mine on an almost daily basis to avoid tiny grit getting stuck causing those micro scratches

With the talk of screen protectors, does the tempered glass protectors protect from more than just scratches or does it also protect from breakage of the screen from drops? Just trying to figure out what benefits it offers over the plastic film protectors like the original Invisible Shield Film for example. If it's only for scratches, then wouldn't using the liquid protector pretty much do the same thing?

From what I've read. Temper glass is good for scratches. Film good for impacts. I use film and can vouch for film, atleast my brand. I've used temper on phones before this. Never had scratches or cracks with temper. But all of this could vary on brand. I would say temper just as good. But that curved glass might throw that off.

Idc what brand or type of screen protectors/cases you have. If the right drop or scratch happend could crack or scratch. More along the lines of akward drop. Nothing is 100% proof. But a good case/protector gives you 80-90% protection.

Tempered glass has a different feel than film of course, and it won't leave s-pen usage marks either.

Film won't really do much for impact resistance, but tempered glass helps a bit if the impact is right on the screen. It's not a guarantee though...if (for example) you don't have a case and the phone falls on the corner/side, then the screen could crack regardless of whether it has a tempered glass or film protector.

The challenge with the Note 8 is finding the right glass to fit the curved edges without sacrificing touch sensitivity, etc. Wet-apply film protectors generally fit much easier in comparison.

Not all film equal. My film Tech21 built for impact. Plenty of videos and reviews to back it up. I would call bs befofe if someone told me film can take impacts. Use to only rip temper as well.

I've experienced direct hits from objects with no cracks. There's plenty of crap films I agree and not good for impacts. Film does suck for fingerprint smudges. I would also add good for scratches. Some say it's not, but disagree.

Impact test and scratch test.
Infused bulletproof film screen protector

Thanks all.. Assuming one had a case, would the tempered glass vs film protection be that much different. One thing I noticed with the tempered glass is many of the companies take the easy way out and they don't protect the sensors or the area on the left/right and above the speakers, wouldn't those areas be important as well?
