Hello everybody

I am waiting for the official update like many of you.
But just realized that I have at&t version of Google Nexus S.

In that case it may take few weeks or months for the update to be available via ota.
I can flash a different radio to my mobile phone compatible with generic update.

But that may create different set of problems.
Is the Jellybean AOSP rom compatible with at&t version?
If so, waiting for official update is better or installing this rom?

I am not newbie to these all manual work.

Currently aosp Roms are not that good... We need to wait for the official kernel along with the new governor in order to have proper performance ;-)

Just try to wait a couple more days :)

Yes. There's a few things that are still missing that will give the phone optimal performance. I mean, you can still try the AOSP just to see what has been improved. I did and thoroughly enjoyed the things I did see. I mean, all ya gotta do is backup your current ROM:D

The official update is SUPPOSED to be pushed out in about 12 hours, but that may depend on your carrier.
You may as well wait and see what AT&T does before you go ahead and flash a new rom.

I flashed an early ICS OTA when it was only out on the I9020T. All I had to do was find a radio-free rom, and flash it on my I9030A

Make a back up of your current ROM and test out an aosp jb ROM if you are curious. However you could wait a few days and I'm sure a developer will create a more stable version of jb once ota is rolled out. It shouldn't be too long before we see some great ROMs based on 4.1

Thanks for your very informative post.
So, i don't have to wait till AT&T version JB to come.
Then, i can wait for couple more weeks for the Official OTA update to be released.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

FirePoncho is right...I was having the same issue for the longest time. If you go to your APN settings (system settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names), you will see the network that you use there (e.g Rogers, Telus, AT&T etc...). Simply select yours and you're good to go!

I don't really see the point of flashing JB on the Nexus S as long as CRT screen off animation doesn't work. I go mental without it!!! GNAAAAAAAA
