Is it still worth it?

I had the xperia play a few years ago and i was pretty happy with it. I got a nexus 4 the other weak and its a great device but i am not really using my phone that much since i am using my macbook a lot.

Is it possible to get a good performance in the os with kitkat or jelly bean? Or is it all laggy?
