Hi all,

I am hesitant to use this app, but unfortunately because there is no other solution for rooting my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.. I wanted ask if any reputable member of this community could vouch for its safety and trustworthiness.

I am concerned about using KingRoot in my daily driver because:

- It may be impossible to remove the KingRoot app, according to their FAQ.

- People on this forum claim KingRoot connects to multiple Chinese IPs long after finishing the root process.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63787618&postcount=2641

according to my own sandbox analysis of KingRoot PC program:

- KingRoot EXE modifies WINDOWS\\win.ini WTF?!
- adds a Tcpip\Parameters to send keep-alive transmissions. WTF?!
- Spawns a lot of processes WTF?!
- Creates files in windows directory WTF?!
- Terminates other processes using taskkill WTF?!
- Installs itself for autorun at Windows startup WTF?!

all of the above are completely unnecessary for what this app is supposed to do and very malware-like. What on earth could be the justification of modifying Windows files??!

- Also, I have seen automated replies that say KingRoot is the best ever and it is perfect in various forums topic around the internet where people where questioning KingRoot's reputation.

At this point I am pretty sure KingRoot exe & apk are malwares. I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.
I want to actually use my phone & PC, not ruin them with virus!

My analysis of the KingRoot Andoird App:

Has the ability to identify network operator related data "android.telephony.TelephonyManager.getSimOperator
WTF?! WHY? What is the point?
Has the ability to get the wifi MAC address (may be used to fingerprint device) WTF?! WHY? What is the point?
Has the ability to query the phone location (GPS)
Has the ability to read the device ID (e.g. IMEI or ESN) WTF?! WHY? What is the point?
Has the ability to read a list of running processes/installed packages
Permission request for "android.permission.CAMERA" WTF?!
Permission request for "android.permission.WRITE_SMS" WTF?!
android.permission.CLEAR_APP_CACHE Allows an application to clear the caches of all installed applications on the device. WTF?!

same as the Windows EXE, I do not want this malware near my daily driver phone. Unless someone can show me that I am wrong about this app.

Kingoroot/Kingroot are not trustworthy the apk takes control over camera and storage and calls and such permissions+ it sends info to foreign IPS in China including imei -kingroot devs claim it's for developement- but it's not trustworthy at all
It also causes some troubles on some devices

Your device has TWRP -XZMultiRecovery- so you can use it to flash SuperSU or Magisk

It's FREE! Any legit app as well written and designed with such a simple and easy interface, would cost a bunch of $$$, dontcha think?

"If you don't see a product, then look at yourself; you're the product."

I wish it were safe cos I want to root my Android TV box just so I can enable write/delete permission to my USB media drives. I'm sure there is a way to do it easily but I don't know what that is.

KingRoot looked like my silver bullet. Sigh. . . .
