Hi All,

I am unsure if my mi5s bootloader is locked or not. I have managed to flash TWRP, but trying to install supersu or a custom rom fails with various error messages (error 7 for example).

Going onto the unlock website gives me a weird error (translated = "too many requests from \IP").

Is there an easy way to tell if it is locked? I tried "fastboot oem device-info" and it showed "device unlocked: true", so does that means I can ignore having to unlock bootloader using the Xiaomi website?

Afaik error 7 come if your miui firmware doesnt match with the required firmware for the custom rom
And you're able to boot into custom recovery seems like you really is unlocked
my mi5s also has ubl when i bought it , seems like the seller has unlocked it.

Which then wipes any files I put onto the phone, so i need to use a usb otg thumb drive to hold the files? Or is there a location (tried / and /downloads/) i can put files on the phone that dont get wiped with a full wipe?

I assume TWRP can mount a usb thumb drive and read files from that? I've ordered a usb-c->usb-a adapter to try it out!

Thanks all, in the end to get around 'Error 7' I;

1 - put a copy of latest Xiaomi rom onto usb stick (I think I used dev rom)
2 - booted into TWRP, flashed xiaomi rom
3 - rebooted
4 - booted into TWRP
5 - flashed Lineage
